I have calmed down after the weekend. I still hope BM starts and plays on Saturday but if it’s JG I hope he plays extremely well and we have a victory. Even running the quarterback sneak and not handing the ball off he was still trying to score he just made a stupid play. Hopefully they take the reigns away from him and he runs what is called. I just want to get to 6 wins no matter who the qb is and that starts this weekend
How hard is it to imagine that JG saw a chance to play hero by keeping the ball and scoring the TD that would put us within one score of Bama? Not a big leap IMO. In fact, the way you arrogantly dismiss the idea makes you look rather ignorant IMO. Without even attacking JG, I could easily understand the motivation for such action. He came into the season as a starter with high hopes and has severely underperformed. He's been the target of every fan's frustration, and is most surely frustrated with himself. So he sees a chance to play hero and maybe turn it all around, but fails. Not a big leap in logic there. At what point does all that criticism for "not taking chances" make him say "**** it" and take a chance? I mean, he's just been watching as a true freshman takes his job. You don't think he's frustrated with himself, looking to turn it all around? That seems rather ignorant to me.
I think you mean Cocks, not Gators.Good a place as any to deposit this opinion I’ve been saving for a rainy day. In this world of this means that and that means this, reality isn’t always the byproduct of majority narratives posted. Take the BEST QB’s this season and rewind two seasons for perspective. Tua was benchridden as was Burrow with established starters in front of them. Tua is now sold as an inevitable that was going to happen, but the story from his own camp is that he was one half of a championship game from transferring...maybe truth somewhere in the middle. Burrow was similarly shining pine in his third year (one redshirt) eagerly awaiting the court ruling that would cap JT Barrett’s eligibility at a decade. That settled, he was envisioning at best a winner take all competition with Dwayne Haskins but had to anticipate all world dual threat Tate Martell as a viable threat (gotta wait for that TRUTH thing). When the dust settled, Haskins won the job and Burrow bet on himself and grad transferred to of all QB development havens...LSU. Back in Tuscaloosa, Tua seized that opportunity and could do no wrong after delivering that championship and we have a new player...Jalen Hurts. Considered a product of surrounding Bama talent, he played the good soldier and let his HC milk another season of eligibility off his docket. Actually saved the season in the SEC Championship Game and could have rested his lone remaining time as a legend. Bet on HIMSELF and grad transferred to an Oklahoma program that didn’t lend itself to his heretofore conservative passing talent. Burrow in the meantime had a SOLID season and Baton Rouge was grateful because SOLID was better than they had experience at the QB position in recent memory! Maybe hope for a little better improvement with a year of starting under his belt? BOOM! Two players sold as good talents but not great having phenomenal seasons and setting records! Sometimes the only difference in greatness is OPPORTUNITY to be so. This long winded PSA was actually shortened because there are other examples of such in college football. “I see this so that means this” has been wrecked in reality court so many times that I’d have to create it’s own forum to flesh out a small portion...and nobody’s got time. If Maurer can’t play, I hope Shrout gets at least a fraction of our freshman phenom’s leash against the Gators before drawing up his walking papers.
Well maybe he should've told his teammates of his attentions so they could block for a sneak and not for the play that was called and they thought they were running. If JG isn't selfish then he has the worst football IQ ever. How hard is it to believe JG wants to win as bad as any other player and made the wrong choice that he thought a QB sneak was the best way to do so???
I mean he had gotten 2 yards on the previous QB sneak.
Maybe just maybe he tried to make a play that would help his team win??????
Which is basically what I said. But he went with his own call, not the call of the coaches. The rest of the team was quite obviously running a different play. Sure, JG was playing to win, but he took it all upon himself in that moment rather than being a team player. That's referred to as being selfish. Win as a team, lose as a team, but JG didn't make a team choice. He chose to try and score himself and it backfired royally. Are you arguing he shouldn't be held accountable for a personal decision he made in that moment? How hard is it to believe JG wants to win as bad as any other player and made the wrong choice that he thought a QB sneak was the best way to do so???

I recall a time when a poster said he was leaving and not returning. Yet here you are so you are well versed in hypocrisy.I recall a time VN wanted its qb to “want the ball in their hands with the game on the line”
I recall a time when VN “wanted their QB to show he cares”
I recall a time when VN “wanted their QB to take charge and lead”
And now when a QB did all
Those things and it failed they blame him for selfishly calling his own number. The hypocrisy around here is sad really.

Trying to do something single-handedly while the rest of the team is running a completely different play is not "taking charge" or "leading". If he runs the play as called and it gets stuffed, no one is complaining about him. The complaint is he decided to do his own thing without even telling the rest of the team. He knows that, anyone with half a brain cell knows that. He just saw the way the wind was blowing with JG and just had to carry water for him to be a contrarian. He and JG deserve each other.Trying to do something single-handedly while the rest of the team is running a completely different play is not "taking charge" or "leading". Agreed, especially on Shrout getting the same leash. And I have zero problem with them slowly working him in while they work with him.Good a place as any to deposit this opinion I’ve been saving for a rainy day. Everything you say trying to pump up JG, I got 4 words in rebuttal:
HE. IS. A. LOSER.
I don't know if I'd say Maurer has developed faster than JT.
I think RPO is honestly the main reason Maurer went from true freshman to backup to starter. It's a dynamic you give your QB that completely changes how often defenses blitz. It's why despite rarely throwing the ball Kentucky's offense beat Arkansas and was able to hang in there with Georgia for the first half.
Having a QB that can successfully run RPOs is just an extra threat to help an offense move the ball. It's honestly one of the reasons JG was so bad in Butch's offense and is still not "getting it" when it comes to audibles and play selection. I really feel like it's a gut feeling more than film study and the truly elite QBs have it. Peyton did a ton of work in the film room, but on game day he knew just from how the game was going when was the right time to dial up the appropriate play. Don't believe that, rewatch the first super bowl win against the Bears, he didn't have a great personal performance but the way he called that game offensively was masterful.

Read an impassioned William Wallace speech and charged off towards freedom with his dangles flopping out of his kilt...understandable why he identifies with Guarantano. Got far enough away and no one followed him...or cared. Talked to himself, realized he hated that guy, ate his horse and skulked back to the only thing that pays attention to him...George Costanza style. True story.I recall a time when a poster said he was leaving and not returning. Yet here you are so you are well versed in hypocrisy.
It appears that many many posters feel this way
If it’s so easy to see he’s a loser how do you posters keep supporting Pruitt if he keeps putting him out there??
If he makes such an easy decision and plays a loser shouldn’t we make a change after this season and get a coach that clearly sees what a loser looks like?
