Can you have roughing the passer with Targeting, so that even if the targeting is overturned, then the roughing still is enforced? The call on the field should have been roughing the passer, not targeting. With it not being called on the field, they cant review a play and retroactively say it was roughing the passer. They can, at any time, review a play for targeting. So yes, it should have been called roughing the passer on the field and reviewed to see if it would be considered targeting.
But our game was actually competitive unlike the ole miss game. How many yards did OM rack up in the second half when bama stopped trying? Then maybe we should be talking about bad play calling because we rushed for 114 when Ole miss rushed well over 200 against them. RBs needed more carries
Bottom line is it was a solid performance. Reminded of 2015 there but clearly it doesn’t mean we have arrive just like it didn’t that year
The stoppage of play when we shifted to wildcat and this phantom holding penalty are things that I still just cant get my head around. There could be arguments for some of the other horrible calls, but these two I just dont get it.
That is not true either. They moved the ball back to the 3 after the first down run, so we got about 2.5 yards on the next two runs. If they spotted it right, there is no 4th down play at all.Why do I keep seeing post so happy about how physical we were?
Sure there were encouraging parts and I am excited about the future but these takes about us taking over the LOS are just not true. If they were the 4th down JG debacle would have never happened. We have to remember we had it first and goal on the 2 and got whipped for 3 straight plays
Pruitt and Phil both seem like people who would want to make a statement so why not
Yes, thats the way its normally called with hits to the QB. If it was roughing the passer (IMO it was) and the hit was to the helmet, then its called roughing the passer and reviewed for targeting. Never seen a hit on a QB called straight targeting. Can you have roughing the passer with Targeting, so that even if the targeting is overturned, then the roughing still is enforced?
In my mind, if you call targeting. Then it should automatically be a personal foul/roughing. Even after review the targeting goes away but the PF shouldn't on that play because it was obvious that it was a late roughing play, imo.Can you have roughing the passer with Targeting, so that even if the targeting is overturned, then the roughing still is enforced?
It was much more than just flags in this game to. Stopping the play on the wildcat, missing the roughing call on Maurer, spotting the ball three yards behind where our run got to, etc... It was the most corrupt officiating I have ever seen and I am not one to ever blame a game on officiating.2 sacks, 6 TFL
3 sacks, 7 TFL
37 rushes for 3.1
34 rushes for 4.1

Pretty impressive, and Bama feasted on garbage time pressure on JT to help them in the two bold categories. The penalty margin closed in the 2nd half as Bama got flagged a few times to "make it even" so 13 vs 8 both for 93 yards, but ultimately one played shifted it from a 1 score last possession drive to a 2 score game over final drive.
Yeah.. they wont be suspended. I do think they should have public accountability with gambling being legalized in alot of places. I also think they should he treated as full time employees with benefits. If that officiating crew isn't suspended, then the SEC has no integrity at all. That one play where they called three penalties on UT was a joke--one was on a # we don't even have, one was on a player not even in the game and the third was on Wright. Wright was the go-to-- if they needed to call a penalty, they just called offsides or holding on Wright.
Nobody will be suspended, ergo...
I absolutely love how Sanderson finished the WoT, and so do millions of other WoT fans. And detail is one of the biggest pillars of the WoT...Jordan was a master of it. He really "put you in the room". If you don't like that detailed of a world, then I don't see how you got through tEotW, much less all 14 of them.We have similar taste. If you haven't read Kingkiller Chronicles, you should. I only read Sanderson for the final WoT books, and I HATED how ham fisted and lacking in subtlety he was. Are his other books a similar writing style? The dialog felt like he was trying to write an overly snarky and quippy movie script, and he explained every single detail like the audience was incapable of picking up anything unless he explicitly spelled it out. He's the one mega author in that genre I haven't read. Curious on your thoughts.
You're right. Nobody will be suspended. It's an absolute embarrassment. If that officiating crew isn't suspended, then the SEC has no integrity at all. That one play where they called three penalties on UT was a joke--one was on a # we don't even have, one was on a player not even in the game and the third was on Wright. To me, it was the right call according to the rule. The rule is the problem IMO. "Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet" Tulli definitely did this, but this is where the rule is poor IMO. It doesnt take in account the runner lowering their head. It allows the offensive player to lower their head for the extra yardage while preventing the defender from protecting that yardage. Its a piss poor rule and really needs changing.............but they called it correctly according to the current rule IMO.I also want someone to tell me what the hell Bituli is supposed to do when the wr dives for the endzone about a foot off the ground and Bituli is going in full speed to try and stop him. That's not targeting that's trying to play football.
the bad part is i could almost understand it more if it was just one crew that had a bad night or something. If that officiating crew isn't suspended, then the SEC has no integrity at all. That one play where they called three penalties on UT was a joke--one was on a # we don't even have, one was on a player not even in the game and the third was on Wright. It should be an automatic possibility, the current format of not being able to reduce the call is just asking for trouble and I'm not just saying that because of our game. Can you have roughing the passer with Targeting, so that even if the targeting is overturned, then the roughing still is enforced?
