Pretty impressive, and Bama feasted on garbage time pressure on JT to help them in the two bold categories. The penalty margin closed in the 2nd half as Bama got flagged a few times to "make it even" so 13 vs 8 both for 93 yards, but ultimately one played shifted it from a 1 score last possession drive to a 2 score game over final drive.
i heard on the radio this morning, think it was Ben McKee, that said if you take in to account only the RB rushes and rushing yards, we were right at 5 ypc.........

The probably, unfortunately was it wasn't called roughing the passer, but instead called targeting. So the review overturned targeting, and since that was the only penalty called it got waved off.

I'd say that was intentional. They knew it was a late hit and if they had called it roughing the passer with targeting, there would have been no take-back on the RTP.

So call unnecessary roughness on all potenial targeting calls and go from there should be the route
Only if its unnecessary roughness (UR)............lots of targeting calls and reviews are for hard hits that look, in real time, like illegal hits. If you call it UR on a tackle because you think its targeting, then it could be a clean hit on review and you still have to enforce the UR call.

Well I think most are considering this is the Bama of old on defense and that’s wrong.

We rushed for 3.1 yards a rush.

A&M was 5
Ole miss was 4.8
Duke was even well higher than us against Bama

That’s why I think we are going over board with this we won the LOS talk. This Bama D just isn’t that good to be honest
if you look at the RB's YPC i think it was right at 5YPC. our overall goes down because of sacks and wildcat stuff. but our OL and RB's against their front 7 we more htan held our own.

No doubt it was a step in the right direction. Disappointed it wasn’t a big enough step to score on 1st and goal from the 2 in 3 running plays

It took Alabama three or four plays to score against us inside the 3 yard line on one drive. News flash, it is always hard to run when the defense is cover zero and it is hat on hat across the board. And if our quarterback had been running the same play the other ten guys were on our fourth down, I think we most likely get the touchdown.

Yes it was competitive. A step in the right direction like I have said

About five minutes of amateur googling reveals where he’s from in Alabama and that he’s also big into the youth wrestling scene in Alabama. To be clear, nothing i saw in my five minutes of googling showed any evidence of him actually being a Bama football fan. But even the appearance of bias is unacceptable. It is laughable that the SEC would assign Alabama fans to Alabama games.
Lee Hedrick is from Sevier County, I think , and he never works Tennessee games.

I thought Sanderson did pretty well finishing the WoT series...my favorite books, btw. My major complaint was how he deals with Mat's character. He didn't seem to know how to write that character and tried too hard to make him funny. Other than that I think he took a lot of loose ends and tied them together well even if it was a little rushed.

Sanderson's own works don't have those issues as much. Stormlight is the only one that I feel is up there with WoT, GoT, Kingkiller, Black Company, etc. I think Sanderson has too many projects going at once and tries too hard to be a volume writer but Stormlight is amazing and the Mistborn books are very good.

Rothfuss is definitely a superior storyteller. He builds a story that is fully engrossing and doesn't give a damn about pacing or any of the things Sanderson tries too hard with.

JMO....please share any recommendations. I'm about to finish the 3rd Locke Lamora book and need a new series.
I love Stormlight and Sanderson is my favorite author. I agree with your WoT take. I did not really notice it about Matt at first, but agree he did seem to struggle with his character a little.

our RB's averaged 5.4 YPC combined.

Then maybe we should be talking about bad play calling because we rushed for 114 when Ole miss rushed well over 200 against them. RBs needed more carries

Bottom line is it was a solid performance. Reminded of 2015 there but clearly it doesn’t mean we have arrive just like it didn’t that year

Seems odd to say it but I'll feel okay about even 4-8 as long as we are competitive the rest of the year. Said Pruitt needed to show something, and I think he has. The QB situation is going to really hurt the team because right now we don't have one. If Maurer was healthy and could stay healthy I would feel decent about 5-7 or 6-6, but I think that position is going to cost us games we should win.

Honestly though, everything is just setting up for a huge leap forward next year. I think we win at least one out of the OU/UF/UGA/Bama gauntlet, and then in 2021 we'll be a legit upper-tier SEC team.

If that officiating crew isn't suspended, then the SEC has no integrity at all. That one play where they called three penalties on UT was a joke--one was on a # we don't even have, one was on a player not even in the game and the third was on Wright. Wright was the go-to-- if they needed to call a penalty, they just called offsides or holding on Wright.

Nobody will be suspended, ergo...

Pruitt and Phil both seem like people who would want to make a statement so why not

Maybe it wasn't.... my bad thought I saw you mention his name and remember talking about WoT with you. You will love it when you do read. Amazing.

I've been catching up on reading this year with almost all of Sanderson, Joe Abercrombie, Scott Lynch and The Black Company books.

I really like the Stormlight series out of Sandersons stuff and love his shared universe approach in general.
I really want to read PRs Kingkiller Chronicles...but since Martin has pissed me off so bad, it has made me very wary of starting another unfinished epic. I do love the Wheel of Time. I hope PR doesn't decide to take Martins "life sucks, then you get tortured, then raped and pillaged, then tortured some more...then if you're lucky you are allowed to die" approach to his story. I am not reading the rest of tSoIaF precisely because of that philosophy of Martins. I get enough real in real life, and there are real heroes worth honoring in the world.

you're injecting the "arrived" stuff. no one is saying that.

Locke Lamora books were great. I need to check out Black Company.

Completely agree with how Sanderson dealt with Mat. That was my biggest complaint (how he made the characters quippy and shallow and extreme versions of themselves), but thought he did a great job wrapping up the story. I might check out Stormlight.

Just finished Memory Sorrow and Thorne, which was very much like WoT in style but shorter. I like it better personally, but I thought WoT was too long winded and a little too focused on the mechanics of magic, felt like I was reading a D&D book at times. Currently reading Hyperion series, which is really good but slow and much more philosophical. A Song of Ice and Fire is a no brainer if you haven't read it yet. All the First Law books, in case you stopped at the first 3. The Dark Tower series is phenomenal. Bernard Cornwell Warlord series is the best King Arthur books you'll ever read.
I love Locke Lamora. Extremely good. I am definitely ready for the next book. Memory, Sorrow and Thorn might be my very favorite. I love Tad Williams. The history and races he creates for his world are absolutely fantastic. He has started a second trilogy to Memory... called The Witchwood Crown, I think. He has released two of those books.

The stoppage of play when we shifted to wildcat and this phantom holding penalty are things that I still just cant get my head around. There could be arguments for some of the other horrible calls, but these two I just dont get it.

i want a post season game. this team is capable of doing it. at some point....we need to do it. happy with the difference from game 1 to today, yes.

but win games that matter...now. we didn't win any that mattered prior to last week against MSU.

now there's soemthing on the line again.

go make it happen.
