I feel pretty encouraged overall. Players are developing, team is improving. If that team showed up week 1, we’d have 2 losses right now. Other thoughts:

1. As a whole, super impressed with the development of the oline. Morris is a man. That play where they pushed Jordan for 10 yards was my favorite of the night.

2. That said, Wright has a long way to go.

3. Also impressed with the development of some guys on the dline, Butler in particular. In two years, we should see this defense playing at an elite level.

4. Bryce Thompson is the best defender on the team.

5. Callaway didn’t have a huge night in the box score but he is going to make a legit pro somewhere. Dude knows how to play.

6. Refs, JG, blah. We all know. The thing that killed me is Mat Austin. That guy was garbage as an official and now we have to listen to him give garbage explanations on garbage calls. I hate Mat Austin.

Careful...moral victory police are on the streets getting that end of month quota!
Don't believe in moral victories but that doesn't mean you can't find positives from a negative. Negative, we lost. Positive, we looked damn good doing it at times. Gives me hope for real victories in the future.

I can see how coaches would feel like there is something to work with in JG. He has physical tools and doesn't appear stupid.

His problem is how he deals with pressure....he panics. I'm not talking about blitzes, I'm talking pressure situations in games.

I'm sure it's frustrating to JG and everyone around him. Maybe he needs Valium before games. Apparently he doesn't feel the same pressure in practice so he looks great.

It’s just baffling how much he has regressed since last year. He was a much better QB last year and that makes no sense. It’s like JG is Patrick Ewing in Space Jam, and the MONSTARS have stolen his talent.

Don’t pretend to see positivity in a game against the top ranked team in which they usually put in their backups before halftime. That’s weak and means you’re the reason our team is mired in mediocrity!

Pruitt earned a lot of cred with me yesterday.
He clearly out coached the talent disparity yesterday but I think we saw a lot of our best players are fresh and sophomores. I think even in that loss you have a lot to sell recruits and how about Tim f****** Jordan? Dude is playing hard and I like seeing that. If this team keeps fighting and they play like that they will win 6 games.

And yet he is remarkably talented picking up 3rd and long. Odd.

I think it's because those are usually situations where the defense is blitzing. Most of his best plays have come with defensive pressure.

It really is strange. He really is the opposite of most QBs.

I really think he is a humble, fragile kid who felt the need to to act cocky to play the game. He has messed with his own head and it's sad.

Wish him the best for the future in whatever he does outside of football and I hope he gets past his failures while at UT. I understand why he wanted to play for UT but he just isn't cut out for it.... would have probably had a solid career at Rutgers where college football just isn't as important.

He almost connected on that long ball though, pass looked good imo. Much better than JG’s overthrown long balls 100% of the time.
He’s got touch as a thrower and some arm strength behind it. Would’ve liked to have seen some intermediate routes but there really wasn’t much time for that.

I really hope Maurer can go next week and the rest of the year. I like the kid. Granted, he has to improve on some things, but dang it is fun and refreshing to watch the offense when he is in there.

He reads defenses, goes through his progressions, knows when he needs to scramble, and man, can he zing that ball. Such a quick release. With more work, and if he can stay healthy, I think the kid can be special. Regardless if Bailey comes or not, I would like to see Maurer play a full game, and season.

One of the biggest complaints I've seen since he was hired is him being a Bammer. I don't know how anyone else feels, but the three time outs to mess with the kicker knocked that Bammer taint off of him in my eyes, lol. Loved it, and laughed hysterically.

I'm not convinced that last night was a concussion. I think he hurt his already sore neck.

I'm betting that he would have finished the game last night if he hadn't hurt his neck the week before.
I think it’s his actual first true concussion. That knee to the head was like a hammer.
