Bottom one is a little too Bruin-y.

This. Fitz needs a monster buyout attached. I have no idea if he's like a top 3 or 5 S&C guy or whatever, however you even measure such a thing, but I'm pretty sure he's very good if Jimmy Franks and Pruitt want him and Maryland wanted to steal him. Keep him for 5-10 years and we can really build the fundamental base of good football teams.

Are you trying to tell me now that the fans were wrong about JG. Are you trying to tell me Tennessee Vol fans football IQ are on the same basis as ignorance. If it wasn't for the fans Pruitt would still be trotting JG out there and telling us its all we had if we were going to have a chance. PRUITT was WRONG and he knows it.
Pruitt was very snarky when one of the media guys asked him about Maurer being the back up when he ran on the field to take JG's spot when the guy threw his shoe away. Pruitt wanted no discussion of a back up. Much less Maurer.
Don't be fooled. A lot of Tennessee fans were going to stop showing up for the games this year. The administration heard the fans and a change was made whether you want to believe it or not. It's not like we were wanting Peyton Manning replaced. The fans knew JG was not the guy to take us on.

I deny any idea that a P5 HC is sitting around shivering in his boots over what fans think and making decisions based off their thoughts. In fact, if that is your belief of our coach, then that should make you lose confidence more than anything.

The fact is circumstances changed early in the season from what happened in the O&W game, all of preseason, scrimmages, etc. Everyone, coaches and fans alike, shifted opinion while new information was presented to them. But, unlike fans, coaches have to have a sense of long-term vision and not have knee jerk reactions to every little thing. They are also aware of things such as small sample sizes, variance, and just flat playing a bad game.

Fans can talk coaching decisions like they are playing Madden, but that isn't the real world. CJP gave JG a reasonable amount of time to show what he had during all of the offseason. He didn't knee jerk react, nor did he overplay him. I think he played it just fine. I might even say great.

My point is..there isn’t a case for both there is only one...JG shouldn’t even be a thought or discussion where he’s at now is exactly where he needs to be.handing the phone to Maurer when Chaney calls down on the field to check in.
