Haynes didn't commit because we have Bailey, so his path is easier at aTm.

Johnson was never fully committed to UT. He said when he committed he was going to visit aTm. UT is happy with McDaniel.

We didn't get the traction we needed on Moose, despite the Weinke connection. That's probably why we made the cut.

aTm made Morris a bigger priority earlier than we did. Their relationships were stronger.

So the narrative that aTm is stealing all of our top recruits is a bit of a stretch. Morris is the one that hurts because he's in-state, at a position of need, and we should've nailed that one down.

Why would we ever assume we have Memphis "nailed down" because it happens to be on the other edge of the state?

Not it isn't. I literally just named the three. There are no more. We did not recruit Walker. Nor did we pursue Muhammad heavily. There's been 3. Omari Thomas would be 4. And they had heavy advantages in 2 as King is from Texas and was never going to leave there and we were late to recruiting Russell.

edit: I forgot about Johnson. But TN never pursued him after we landed Mordecai per VQ.
And you literally had to edit your post. So the number went up to 4, hmm. And we did recruit Walker, maybe not near as heavy as the others mentioned because we were late, but we did.

But because I'm nice, I'll just call it Atm-4, UT-0.

I'm to superstitious to let those words come from my mouth. I will go full sunshine pumper after the game if we keep it under 20 though.
Eh, I was so negative after what happened in the opener. Kept saying we are losing until we ain’t, until last week and I didn’t say anything. It sucks being negative about my alma mater, so I’m choosing to stop going that route. I enjoy it a lot more when I’m being positive.

Time to take Bama and it’s cry baby coach to the woodshed, and beat them in their own house under their new twinkling lights.

Slight letdown game. Will be closer than you'd think
State is dead. Fans are done and the stadium will not be very filled. Maybe Moorhead saves his scalp, but it doesn't look like that will happen. State's Defense cannot stop Joe Burrow this season.

I'm not being argumentative at all. aTm has made it a point to win recruiting battles with kids that we share interest in. That's not just an opinion.

If anything, it's other people arguing because they see it a different way. But, I'll ask, and this is for anyone willing to answer. Who have we beat out with aTm in a head to head battle for a recruit this year or last? It's possible that I just missed it.

Depends on how you define "beat out" I mean should we consider every kid that also had an A&M offer a "beat them out" kid? Should we consider any Texas kids with A&M offers a "beat them out" kid? Should we consider any high rated 4 or 5 star recruit in the country a "beat them out" kid?

11 of 19 this year are from Texas
16 of 26 last year were from Texas

They've pulled 2 kids from TN (if we count Walker this year) in these two classes, 3 if you count Morris from West Memphis, AR as a "Tennessee" kid. I mean, it'd be more accurate to say Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Clemson, Alabama, North Carolina, NC State, etc. type teams are winning the recruiting battles with us since they've had larger numbers of "our kids" than A&M.

A&M has been recruiting heavy in the midstate since Sumlin. Armani Watts and a linebacker from Centennial High come to mind.

Bass likes to tweak things to defend his boys. He is ride or die I’ll give him that.

And King obviously should have chosen the in state school that didn't have a QB he probably would lose a battle with. And Morris obviously should have chosen the school he had a better chance starting at. And Walker, Muhammad and Russell did not feel like priorities at TN but at aTm so they obviously should have picked them. It's not like aTm even had to work for it so don't give them that much credit. Yeah, we needed Morris but not as a starter.

Okay? What is your point exactly? AtM landed our back up plan in Russell in the 2019 class while we cleaned up with a top 50 prospect in Henry T. AtM landed a QB from their back yard who was never going to leave the state. And AtM landed a DB that decommitted from us that we then stopped pursuing after we landed Mordecai. And AtM landed one of our priorities in Morris. I'm honestly not sure what point you are making here.

Disagree, we needed Morris to come in and contribute next year.

It does make a point...we've not been recruiting Texas well.

Not sure if we did in the past, but Pruitt has only pulled Kenneth George Jr. from Texas so far and he wasn't being recruited by anyone of merit...

Austin Thomas is making an example of us!!!!

Honestly I feel like Texas is a wasted effort state to recruit. TCU, Texas, Baylor, A&M, SMU, Houston all in state...OU, Louisiana, OK State...it's a big state sure, but lots of teams are more than willing to fill their signing class with the highly rated 3, 4 and 5 stars that are far closer to them than us.

Actually, he just pointed out the same logic to this overreaction that several of us did. Purely simple logic to keep a tally of each player with offers from two schools and announce one a winner without looking at the dynamics behind why a certain school was chosen.
