Maybe after two or three years BM could be better than JG ever has. Right now he isn't as good. By the time he is ready HB will be here.

Meh. There's a concussion protocol and baseline that will determine whether Maurer will play or not. That's out of the coaching staff's hands. As it should be.

The best thing that came out of Miss. State was a semblance of a running game and a shut down defense. It wasn't quarterback play. If the Vols can win football games playing sound defense and taking the air out of the football and chugging along for 4 yards a play, this staff would absolutely do that. Pounding the rock and winning ugly and not getting too caught up in who is handing the ball off and throwing slants.

Maurer's good half or quarter was better than JG's game vs UF... by far. BM's first start compares well to anything JG has done over 3 years.

Since the first quarter of UGA he has 0 TDs and 3 ints in basically three quarters.

And... he's basically a freshman making freshman mistakes. But he's pushing the envelope which at least offers a chance of him becoming a good playmaker at QB. Something JG just isn't.

I wish JG would push the ball downfield like Maurer is attempting/learning to do. That's what I told you ad nauseum over the spring and summer. He has the physical ability but he just won't pull the trigger. He's so risk averse it makes him ineffective.

If Maurer doesn't clean it up going forward then maybe he will need to be replaced. I don't think his reckless play can be tolerated any more than JG's hyper-risk averse play... But it IS more coachable.

BM 2 starts 2 tds. 1 per game

I don’t think they practice while they’re under concussion protocol. If Pruitt has already announced him as the starter, the medical evaluations are completed.

JG set the first one up. He literally threw the pass that put us in Bama territory before the first score.

Bama relaxing with a lead vs the backup is what I have always said.
