i wonder how much BM figures in to the run game...if at all?

the only reason i'd disagree with you on the stack the box deal is that we haven't been consistent in the passing game, regardless of who's the QB. and the sample size for BM isn't big enough yet. that said, you've at least seen him do it, so i get what you're saying. i'd still imagine the initial tactic is to take the run away and see if the FR can make you give it back some.....

i do think we're going to have to be patient with the run game....but not stubborn.....i would imagine Chaney would like nothing more than to give them a reason to back off the line of scrimmage early in the game.....and hopefully settle in to the run game as the game goes along.

and pruitt probably wants to keep his defense on the sideline as long absolutely possible....so they're gonna have to manage that a bit i think.

the big unknown for me is how does the change in personnel for MSU affect this game? getting those kids back for this game could be a difference maker and i honestly have no idea what to think about it, except that it has to be a good thing for them?

Lol...honestly with Brian’s arm and Miss st Defense being nowhere near Georgia’s.I hope they do stack the box...Brian will throw for 400 yards and open up the run game if they do indeed go that route..Brian can throw..I highly doubt they will strictly have a gameplan just loading the box, trying taking the run game away.

i don't really disagree, but i think at least early in the game, they're going to test those waters...if we don't pass the test, why change it? i think we'll have opportunities early in the game to let BM sling it around some for sure.

I’m talking about the ranking..we have unknowns but still..I think we will surprise a lot of people just because of the leadership we have still in place on the team.
oh, ok, i was actually a little surprised we were in the top 25 lol. we are losing a TON of really reall good produciton obviously....so i wasn't gonna be surprised by a top 25 snub.

the rest of your post i agree, which is why the rankings deal, well...it'll just take care of itself.....lol.

I’ve not purchased winter clothing in 20 years. Can a man wear a stylish leather jacket these days or is it out of style?

I only have one fashion rule, never ask. There's a reason we all look at pictures from previous decades and make fun of their hair and clothes. And that means anyone with a current strong opinion on fashion, probably makes terrible choices.. seriously, give that a second of thought.

And just do whatever makes you comfortable.🤷‍♂️

What’ll be really interesting to me is this is only the second game where our gameplan going in will expect the game to be close - the other one being BYU.

It felt like from the get go we assumed we could do whatever we wanted vs Georgia State and UTC. On the flip side, there was little chance to compete vs Florida and Georgia.

As a result of this, how does our offense look in a big time/winnable game? We have to have this one. So do we come out winging the ball around or do we tighten up like we did vs BYU?

Pruitt has to get this game and he knows it. Moorhead has to get this game and he knows it. It’s going to be fascinating to see how both coaches react to the pressure.

well, if you remember, there were some really good opportunities in the BYU game to blow that game wide open, that we failed to execute on......i think in the BYU game the were actually pretty aggressive and did a good job of getting us in to a position to make some big plays....and we were effective in the run game.

to me, it'll be interesting to see if/when those same opportunities present, will be able to execute them this time? like the late throw to JJ that he had to stop and wait on...that was a for sure TD....or the over throw to DWA against UF.....the deflection in the endzone to JJ against UF....there was another play or two against BYU that we "had"...til we didn't.

i think for an opposing defnese, watching film has to at least consider "what happens if they actually make that play?"...cause in basically every one of those situations, our offense "won the play".....we just didn't make it....or had a stupid penalty that killed the drive or whatever.

so if we could just put a few of those plays/drives together, i think there's at least a chance we could look up at the scoreboard and see us up by 10, 13, 14 points, or more..........if we don't...well, we already know what that looks like. lol.

It’s going to be interesting to see what Chaney does because he’s going to have to find some wrinkles but keep it somewhat simple for BM. I like that he’s shown that he’s not only willing to take shots but he’s hit them down the field so i don’t think state will be able to just stack the box. I think this is going to be a sloppy style game for both sides. We just have to stay patient and committed to the run even if we find ourselves down.

This is where I think if you're Chaney you put in some max protect schemes off play-action with 2 or 3 receiver reads. Keep it simple, keep him clean, and tell him if it's not there, and he can't run it, then chuck it out of bounds.

I would gamble that they can't stop the run AND cover Callaway and Palmer on verts or JJ on slants. Knowing Shoop's penchant for playing corners off the ball, quick RPO slants to JJ might be there all night.

Lost 4 starters, I'm okay with 22nd honestly. The incoming class wasn't "elite" with JJJ being the only real high ranking recruit.

Do a lot of people think he will be a one and done type?..or will he be around to play with the 3 5* basketball players we have coming in next year👀

This is a whole different world now..we have a QBs that’s confident in throwing and his ability to make the throw...that pass over the middle last week from him was eye opening...Brian ain’t no b**ch when it comes to making a throw..on the back stretch of this schedule outside of Alabama I think our run game with our passing ability as of now..will open up...

Honestly the BasketVOLs success this season comes down to just 2 players.

Yves Pons & Jalen Johnson

Turner, Bowden, James are going to get theirs, lots of talent among those 3 and plenty of experience in Turner/Bowden. Not an area of concern or worry in the starters at guard. Fulkerson may or may not be able to become a 30+ minutes a night consistent starter as a Forward we shall see, but he's got good experience and has been with the program 4 years now we know we'll get something at least.

So we've got 4 players on this team that should give us something. Next up you look at experience in the rest of the line up and there's only 2 other guys with that right now. Pons & Jalen both have at least 2 seasons on the team under their belts and year 3 is when the Barnes development has shown to pay off in the past (Admiral, Kyle, Bone as examples and even Grant improved as well). So if they are going to be legit contributors to this team it's now or never basically.

Another thought....I'm pretty excited to see what Pember & Nkamhoua contribute. Both are going to play this year, make no mistakes Gaines is probably the most likely RS of the incoming class. But I've seen some film on both Pember & ORN and they aren't "project" type players, they can contribute early and if we're going to be successful this season that's what we'll need.

I see us having a solid season 20+ wins, it could become a good season with the above mentioned players contributing some quality production and it could turn into a special season if Plavsic and Kent are both playing and can be similar players to Kyle.

The good news...we've now got 6 guys that are 6'7" or taller on roster with good length...and 3 are true freshmen who might grow a bit more.

You guys already know we aren’t beating Miss State. Whatever their offensive deficiency is they will look good there against us. They’ll grind us and we don’t have the nuts to hang in there in a close game.

This is the kind of game we absolutely have to win to show progress but we won’t. We are mentally soft.

Also before it's asked...

We have 12 of 13 scholarship spots accounted for on this basketball team. Turner & Bowden will both graduate so we have at least 3 scholarship spots open, I expect with how recruiting is going that a 4th or even 5th could be opened up if need be.

Fulkerson, Jalen are both RS-Juniors so they could technically graduate and transfer if they so desired. The guy who really has to prove something is Kent, he's the most likely "git shirt" scholarship holder on this team.
