Call me old fashioned, Call me a crusty old man but I wish our Qb would stop the self promoting and get his ass to work on MSU.

I’d prefer the “i did some good things but need to get Better” approach than feeling the need to waste his time self promoting himself on social media about a game we lost by 29pts in.
Crusty old man! (I'm a crusty old man too.)

The 25 signee cap is really killing our rebuild.

Especially when so many '17s and Banks Antonutti from '18 are leaving/gone. Then next season additional '18s are likely gone in DWA (graduated) and maybe a few transfers for lack of PT (Shrout, Bradon Davis etc)

And you look at that '18 class.... our #1 guy Peterson is a complete non factor, despite all the physical talent in the world and nothing but opportunity in front of him.

Jordan Allen, I think, has some kind of injury - but even before that he's been a non factor for a JUCO kid, and when he is in, he looks completely lost out there. Wanted to transfer this past offseason and his mom talked him out of it. It'll be curious to see what he does after this year.

Ollie Lane appears to have been recruited over. I literally never hear his name mentioned anywhere. Same with Brandon Davis. For someone who said the staff compared him to Honey Badger, I can't recall him ever even getting on the field despite all the opportunities.

Trevon Flowers has been MIA. Or has he been playing? Hell I don't have a clue.

John Mincey isn't mentioned hardly.

Way too early prognostication is, it looks like going into the 2020 season, when the '18s should be the backbone of the team, we're only going to have the following reliable contributors:

Alontae Taylor (I think he gets healthy and is a top 3 corner on this team next year - fingers crossed)
Bryce Thompson (tbh I worry that he stays out of trouble long enough to finish his career here)
Greg Emerson (Despite being our 3rd highest rated signee in 18 [behind JJP and AT] I expected basically nothing from him after his injury. So glad he's developing into one of our best DL, although that isn't saying much)
Emmitt Gooden - He'll come back from that ACL and should give us one more good year before graduation and hopefully a future in the NFL.
Kurott Garland - Surprisingly has graded out as one of the best DL in a couple games this year.
Cedric Tillman - Getting playing time now, and by next year will be in his third year on the team. Considering the void at WR next year, he should see plenty of playing time.
Kenneth George - Doesn't look half bad when he's on the field.

TBD:

Jacob Warren - I don't remember which outlet was reporting it, but someone was very high on him this off season - that he was flashing but needed another year due to the near 30+ lb weight gain. In school he was a gifted receiver and if he can adjust to his size, he might be a match up issue for defenses.
John Mincey - I don't want to write him off. I think he might just be buried in the mediocre depth chart. Maybe another year will do wonders for him.

Outside of that I don't know who we'd really be able to count on. That isn't good.

I don't fault CJP for this considering the short period of time he had to throw together a class. But if you look at it, we don't look like we're going to have any reliable offensive players from the '18 year. Maybe Jerome Carvin?
i pretty much agree with all this and before i go all in on the pitty party..i'll say a couple things...
1. this 20 cycle doesn't have to be top 10, but it absolutely cannot fall apart. that's imperative. i do think we're to the point now where the 19 class is the anchor we're gonna have to build around, so the 20 class and 21 class are really important to getting to a year 4 or 5 with anything that looks like a competitive football team....experience, talent and a semblance of depth.....
2. we will again return a bunch of "production" next year, especially on defense, and ane xperienced o line.....and some freshness at the QB spot. RB should be solid.
3. depth will still be an issue, and we will again be bringing in guys in the 20 cycle that we will have to rely on to give us meaningful reps, so the learning curve will continue for some......and that will translate to some struggles on the field for some....
4. who knows what changes are made on the staff, and what those changes will mean to next year's performance.....
5. TE and WR will be question marks...wondering about Sean Brown and Jackson Lowe....they have to figure in somewhere right?

i don't think it's all doom and gloom....but.....we're in a bit of a precarious spot....and how we started off this season is something we could be kicking ourselves over for a while....

we need to finish this season as strong as we absolutely can, and not waste any opportunities that come our way. sign the best class we can, and move on to next year

Yes I am old fashioned. Ill never accept the look at me and My accomplishments when a team loses as a good thing. Sorry

I like how you think -he- actually made that video LOL

Social Media = recruiting, UT has a full team of media creators. BM was sent that clip and told "post this"

Yep - it is absolutely imperative we close this season on the right note because the 17 and 18 classes were not good at all. 19 looks to be really good on the offensive line and linebacking group. Without a really solid 2020 class I’m not sure how you sell anything going forward. And I’m not sure how you land a solid class sitting on three wins with the head coach on the hottest seat in America.

They have to get to four or five wins and even then that’s just a bandaid.

I don’t care if he made the video or not. I doubt he did.

It’s self promoting after a loss and that’s not something that is a good thing imo

The social recruiting efforts need to be left to the coaches and support staff in promoting an individual imo

It's sad you're this butt hurt over a video.

I can tweet something sitting in class. Kind of hard to study film while sitting through a lecture. Why don't he just skip meals the rest of the week too

...

His posting -that- video was part of the social recruiting efforts. It's why nearly all the team & recruits were tweet about fan support. Hype up the fans, pack the stadium and beat MSU. Then do it again to South Carolina. Right now this 1-4 team has one thing to push fan attendance and hype the NEW ERA at QB (even if it's only for the rest of this season).

Come on man. Even for you this is bad bait. Dude could have posted this while taking a dump in the football complex. Shoot in the amount of time it takes to do it he could have done it while taking a piss. It’s a 30 second video and a one sentence tag line. I want my qb to have some freaking swagger
