Maurer definitely looked better in his first O&W game than JG did. But the question isn’t who was better in their first spring scrimmage, it’s who is in a better position to lead the team in fall 2019. Virtually nobody outside of message boards is questioning the answer to that question. It’s hard to make an intelligent argument that JG isn’t the best guy to lead the team the offense in 2019. Will that be the case in 2020 once Shrout has had some experience as backup and Maurer has had a year to adjust to CFB? That’s a much more interesting question.

JG’s development has been frustrating to say the least. However if you’re saying he hasn’t improved at all over his time on campus, you’re either being hyperbolic or willfully ignorant.

Say what you want but his percentages are the same which shows no improvement dating all the way back to high school..sure he threw more touchdowns last year but he’s still on his average that has followed him since high school.check the stats

Maybe have these guys sign up for a Jane Austen class in the English Dept. It seem we are troubled by lack of skills pertinent to courtship.

You must be impressed with the 25 interceptions he threw his Jr and Sr years of high school.

Compare both touchdowns and interceptions between Maurer and JG in high school.then you tell me who you would take as a coach ..you gotta throw the damn football in order to have a interception..Maurer stats Shows he will take a chance and is confident in his ability to throw.JG’s stats doesn’t. JG in 4 years of high school,42 games played.threw a total of 23 touchdowns and 16 interceptions “In High School”.now look at the total number of touchdowns and interceptions he’s thrown here and you compare buddy.facts are facts JG is Topped out.

I don't understand this decision... I'm not defending Guarantano... he's terrible... but Maurer is more likely to die this game than win it... I wanted the reigns to change after Bama for sure... but anybody else remember when we threw PEterman up against Florida?

We're gonna wreck any confidence this kid ever had

We also threw Dobbs out there during the Bama game and it didn’t destroy him. The strong are gonna be strong.

Pruitt did not want to announce that before kickoff. But it stands to reason that someone said, fortheloveofgod give espn something else to talk about.

I mean, tbh, that's exactly why it was announced and why Banks was dismissed. PR people gotta move that story away from something that at least half the viewers are going to find offensive.

I think u underestimate the Maurer power hour

Told you guys last month that Banks wasn't that bright. Got grilled for it

It’s ok I got grilled for saying JG was that seasoned S**t steak you let the wife attempt to cook for the first time on the grill before the season...but I was crucified for it..and yet here we are.

I'll be surprised if the coaches give Maurer much of a leash. I would expect them to pull him pretty quickly if he can't move the ball or starts turning it over. They're probably hoping we can get the running game going and not have to take shots downfield.

I don’t agree. If you start him you see him finish the game. Unless he goes full Nate Peterman.
