Yeah, that’s fair. A lot of people close to the situation don’t know as much as they think. And certainly there are people who lie for fun.I am sure they have some sources. I am equally sure that the staff tries to stay as secretive as they can about personnel decisions. My point is that it is a guess, possibly more educated than most people here, but it is still a guess and that them commenting that something changed on Wednesday does not carry much credence with me.
I think JJ starts the game at qb tomorrow night. He may only get 1 or 2 snaps the whole game, but I bet he gets the first snap of the game.
I just find it wild they can't constrain the offense for JG like Helton did. Run-heavy, rely on outside PA passes to our big receivers. Instead we're going rpo & probably short slants and other quick throws, when our best receivers are strong, deep ball receivers? The staff starting Maurer proves to me that JG hasn't learned for his mistakes in the previous games. And the staff is pulling out all the stops to generate some points on offense.
Gets it ^^^^^
Which he did all the previous season as well when people here and in the media were talking him up as a coming star QB in the SEC. No, he had a couple successful games of throwing jump balls in enough numbers that the receivers made him look better than he is. This season the plan was to improve him into a real QB, which he apparently is able to do OK in practice and stinks at in games.
Simply put, the problem is his brain. It was a known problem with Botch and would have been known with Pruitt as DC at Bama plus reviewing his film here. This QB chapter needed to end a long time ago. That a top 20 type QB did not get signed for two seasons is an indictment on the coaching staff. A possible Bailey signing addresses it - two years late. If you accept a HC position, you better have a strong QB ready to go with you or one on the existing roster waiting on you. Pruitt didn't.
Let's see if Maurer can provide some spark and upside to the position to provide reasonable competition for the spot next season.
Right. Would just like to see the way we played uga last year for 3 quarters. We were playing tough, just didn't have the horses. Same thing this year. If we can give em fits for a few quarters, good.I just want the team to play hard and not get embarrassed. Is that too much to want for this team? Been embarrassed at every game except Chattanooga so far. Effort was there for 2 and a half games, right?
