UVA had won something like 15 games over the previous four years. They were in worse shape. So in year 2, Mendenhall gets UVA to a bowl. That kind of progress is pretty impressive. Plus, he’d been success in a previous rebuild.

The last thing Mendenhall’s track record needs next to Pruitt is propping up.
Meh. BM was an experienced successful head coach coming in and won 8 games in two years to start out.

Not good at all by any measure offered around here lately.

But look at who they beat this year. They beat Pitt., W&M, Ol Dominion and a Florida State team that only beat La-Monroe by 1pt in OT. Argument seems eschewed. Pruitt should be 2-2 and probably 3-1 if anyone had a pulse vs Ga ST.
Unbelievable how much Pruitt is held back by his team.

Ignont, Reid, Murphy, Bailey, Page, Jones....... Butch.

Seriously though, the point you think you’re making isn’t it.....
Hurd had value in his player dont act like he doesn't. 6th on the all time rushing list.

Ignont, Reid, Murphy, Bailey, Page. Who knows how they would've turned out under Butch. Maybe Pruitt doesn't know how to coach them up.

Hurd quit on your boy. AK hated him and there isn’t any players who’s ever said anything nice about him, actually the opposite. But fine, you’re a Butch Jones fan....

Lulz

Here's the point I am attempting to make. Butch didn't live up to expectations in 16, had roster turnover in 17 and gets kicked to the side. Sure, he had experience at CMu an Cincy but he hadn't coached in the SEC. How would he have been coming in to this season if we would've let him stay around? Better than this I bet. Right now we expect Pruitt to be fired after 2021. How would Butch have done in 2021. Maybe a few coordinators fired and new ones hired but probably better than where we will be "if" Pruitt is fired.

You know ole Dabo in Clemson? Dude was average his first several years. And that was the ACC. He figured it out and got things going. If he was Tennessees coach his record would've been worse than his first few years at Clemson. And he would have undoubtably been kicked to the curb.

No. But to this point Butch is far superior than Pruitt. Butch inherited a ***** roster from Dooley and got it competitive in 3 years.

Edit:
Pruitt inherited a halfway competitive roster and hasn't done ***** since Kentucky.

Failed attempt imo. All I see is Butch love...

Can’t tell if this meant to be blue font or not, lol. The coaching staff has made they’re fair share of mistakes this season and I honestly believe they had to handicap themselves a little bit due talent and new coordinators (more so on offense).

Can’t talk me into that. They were both crap.

You still laying em brick by brick though.........

Butch definitely inherited a terrible roster. His best coaching was in year one and maybe two. Obviously, he made some terrible decisions later and couldn’t develop players.
