Think about this. 25 guys four straight classes gives you 100 or rather only 15 available non qualifiers/transfers/misses to be rolling with 85 full scholarship players.

Let’s say we’re at 80 right now and 10 enter the transfer portal or medically quit. Coupled with seniors graduating (I’m not looking up the actual number) then let’s say your down to 60 with 10 more seniors added to the list. You would have to hit on all 25 freshman coming in to really start to build some quality depth.

It’s going to take some time to crawl out of this

We're at 80 (79 if you don't count Baylen) right now. 13 are seniors, Gooden is likely returning though so we'll lose 12 (Baylen also is a senior). So going into 2020 with no other attrition we'll be at 68 scholarship guys just from graduations.

Possible Juniors that leave early - Guarantano (can grad transfer or enter draft), Ty Chandler (draft), Josh Palmer (weak numbers, but could enter the draft), Trey Smith (very likely to enter the draft if plays entire season)

So we could be as low as 64 on scholarship heading into 2020. Still 25 would put us over 85 and some more attrition would be required.

So I guess all this talk of Roster flipping, I'd really like to see CJP here for a 4th year. That's the season where all the recruiting and developing would either show up or verify he's not got "it"

Yeah I think Hill gets on scholarship...not sure if he'll have to count against 2020 though. I don't know how that all works, thought you could just "give" scholarships to players who walk on and it only count against the 85 but not against a class...but could be wrong.
It used to count to a class after 1 year. The new rule is after 1 year a walkon can be put on scholarship without taking up an IC.

We don't have to blueshirt that many this time. We can't blueshirt more than 1 I believe (the numer we did last year). And it can't get you over 25 regardless.
I thought a blue shirt was putting someone on scholarship later and they wouldn’t sign until after signing period and spots open up. I thought it saved you from counting against the 25 rule. But I could be mistaken. I thought that was why Harris didn’t sign and doesn’t count against the 25 rule from last year.

Here's the rebuild plan but we have to do it before next game.

Step 1. Convience every player to redshirt.
Step 2. Forfiet every game for the remainder of the year.
Step 3. Only sign about 10 players.
Step 4. Playbl 4 games next year and if it looks bad forfeit every game again.
Step 5. Forfeit every game until pruitts buyout is manageable and stockpile 3 classes worth of back counters.
Step 6. Hire good coaches give them all offseason to recruit with a stockpile of back counters to sign big classes.

Biggest worry for me moving forward is still the DL though.

It's top end loaded (of the 12 on roster listed as DE or DT 7 are upper classmen). Emerson is the only 4 star or higher recruit in 2 classes, and the bulk of the bodies are JuCo/Transfers. So in the Pruitt era the only DL guys he's pulled are Mincey, Emerson, Garland, Harris, and Simmons....we really need a few of these guys to become studs sooner rather than later or our defensive "fatigue" issues late in games will continue.

Gotta have some sort of pressure from the 3 down lineman on the majority of snaps to prevent the secondary and linebackers from having to cover so long and also allowing the blitzing to make a bigger impact. When you're blitzing ends up just creating pressure you're going to get toasted (which we have).

Step 5. Repeat Step 4.

I don’t recall the specifics but how would we ever get McBride’s back?

I don’t follow
I believe one of the only ways to get an "initial counter" back is if a player has to quit football due to medical reasons without ever playing in a game. McBride met these requirements.

Ok thanks

Dang what McBride are we Talking about? Didn’t we have a qb named McBride ?

I didn't see the dline do much in the way of movement on Saturday. Did the coaching staff dumb down the calls because of the previous issues lining up correctly?

It already feels like I've done step 5 about 20 times. I dont know if it's from watching the games, reading the boards, or following along with the calculus involved in knowing how many players we can sign in the 2020 class.

I posted these exact same scholarship numbers last night. Said we have to lose 8 non-senior scholarship players by next Fall to bring in a full 2020 class of 25.

Blueshirts sign after the Fall semester begins. The initial counter may be pushed forward, but the signing counts that year. It used to save you in a sense because the signing limit was based off who signed during a certain period. Now it is anyone that signs at any time, thus hardcapping any and all signees to 25 a year.

But because of how blueshirting staggers signing year and IC year (for instance Solomon is a 2019 signee, but will be a 2020 IC), it is currently still possible to rollover blueshirting as many as you did prior to the new rule, up to, not over, the 25 limit. Which is why we blueshirted some in 18, were going to bs 2 last year, and may bs 1 this year I believe.

One of the few positives from the FLA game was that the DL played well against the run. Just need a few of them to develop a better pass rush.

The lineup issue was due to the noise in Neyland and a young group on the field. Bituli is back and it was silent in the swamp when we where playing defense.

But we can forward count 2021 for 2020 and then forward count 2022 for 2021?
Only up to the number of guys you blueshirted the last cycle. That is 1 for us. But again, it doesn't really do anything but allow us to reach 25. Otherwise we would have had even smaller classes in 18 and 19.
