I don’t think Pruitt is the guy but I don’t think you can fire him till next season if things are clearly stuck. It’s like tearing your ACL but having to wait for surgery. You know it can’t work and you want to recover to get back to normal but you just can’t get the surgery yet.

Pure misery. Prove us wrong Pruitt. Would be an epic story to tell

I actually hope you get your wish, you need to be taught a lesson.

Following your instruction would lead to nothing but losing seasons for the foreseeable future for Tennessee. I really don't get the fascination of Phil Fulmer, Tee Martin, etc... If we want to completely kill the program, let's just keep on making the same mistakes.

Fulmer would give stability and imo get us to 7-9 win seasons sooner than anyone we could hire. Doing that for 3-4 years before turning it over to someone else would be of big benefit.

I like Tee for recruiting purposes and some stability and nothing more.

No one is getting fired this year. Pruitt essentially gets a free pass this year. Fulmer knows that we must have a great recruiting year. And no doubt the pressure will be on for a great recruiting class. Development of Maurer should be interesting. We will have to roll with him at this point.
About that great recruiting year...

I'll say it again, I hope you get your wish. Fulmer/Tee couldn't coach in today's game if their lives depended on it. They should be remembered for what they did in the past and left in the past. I'd rather have Pruitt then both, and I'm definitely not a Pruitt fan.

I think Pruitt is in shock right now to some degree. He may want out himself at the end of the season.

He has that shell-shocked look. It's a really big job-- without a rebuild. Things haven't gone like anybody thought-- or hoped. I can't even imagine how it's going to be if we're sitting at 1-6 or 1-7.

Didn’t want to post this before the Florida game because people accused me of skewing too negative and distracting from the game, but:

Hubbs said on 99.1 Thursday that basically nothing is off the table if this team starts 1-7 and only wins two or three games. He didn’t want to entertain the thought too much with so much season left.

I firmly believe Fulmer won’t sit on his hands.

We'll see, that'll be their record.

The only thing is, Fulmer made this hire, are booster really going to trust him and open up the purse strings to make another hire

If we go 2-10 we will have a different coach next year.

I think Fulmer understands that if he gets a second chance at another hire he has to get a proven head coach. That either has a lot of lower school experience or someone we poach from another big school

Firing people is not UT's Achilles heel. For the most part, the people who were fired either weren't doing their job or weren't right for the job, and replacing them should have been good for the university and the program. Bad timing and hiring bad replacements-- that's the root cause of UT's continual decline. Making the same mistakes over and over and over and over and over again led us to where we are.
Timing early on was a big thing... And to me that was just about being indecisive about what you want this program to be.... And being forced to settle for what we got ultimately.

Has anybody else watched Nebraska QB, Adrian Martinez ball out and think, "man, he would be our starting QB, right now if Pruitt could have hung on to him and UT would probably be, at the least 3-1, right now" ?

I’ve had that thought with one big difference

Not really. JG would probably still be starting because “he practices the best”.
