I am pretty stoked about Maurer. Can't imagine how jacked up he was getting thrust into the game. In the swamp no less. Chaney needs to do that QB whispering we've all heard about ( I acknowledge has fallen on deaf ears up to now) and get him under control .
My prediction is the offense will rally around him. It may not be pretty at times but if it lights a fire under the offense I will be satisfied.
If you're worried about your QB's psyche after a loss, then you don't have a good QB. A QB with the right mentality no matter how young would not let it affect themHard to imagine this staff wanting to give Mauer (or Shrout) their first start against UGA. That would not be setting them up for success and may actually hurt their development.
If I were Pruitt, I’d go w JG as long as possible in hopes that he figures some things out.
The big picture goal has to be to bring in a legitimate transfer QB in the off season.
Who is he going to get??? He ran his mouth all offseason about how much better we would be, so what will he sell? Recruits aren’t going to want to play for him.Darrell Taylor has been non existent in 2019. Bumphus hasn't done much outside of his 2 sack game against BYU. And these guys are Juniors and Seniors. We've had to blitz our linebackers to create pressure leaving the middle of the field wide open for Florida. Hurt us all game with it. Pruitt has to focus on recruiting. We need help all across the board, but especially at End.
I know right, greatest coach since Doeren. He’s got a ton of National and conference titles. Can’t believe no big team has given him a shot ever. He always seems to get third tier jobs and win 10 games once every four years or so but he’s a legend. And definitely fire Pruitt after 16 games, that shows we are definitely a good place to be. Every coach would be knocking down the door to come here bc it’s worked so well the last 10+ years. You havent heard, hes a genius.

WTH do you do if you are coaching this team? You can’t pass because the qb throws into triple coverage, you can’t run because the defense will stack the box, you can’t get a pass rush with the DL, and you can’t be aggressive with the blitz because our dbs are letting dudes run by them. WTH do you do? We are so F’ed
our coaches need to play their system and put any player in that remotely gets it done. Recruit to your system, the year is toast and we need to build for the future. If Pruitt has a chance it’s that.WTH do you do if you are coaching this team? Hire a guy til you get the next one...like a TEMP? Can’t go with you on that. Here's the thing that bugs me about all of that... People are looking at coaches and saying 'can this guy win us a championship?' when we should be looking at coaches and saying 'can this guy get us to respectability.' We have to crawl before we can walk let alone run. Everyone looks at coaching searches as a one shot solution. It's not. We're too far down and have no one waiting in the wings to return home. Unfortunately, Johnny ain't coming home this time. We have to build up to respectability to hire a good coach.
^This! Nailed it! This board has hired Les Miles, Mack Brown and now Mike Leach in the first four weeks and mulled extending an offer to Mark Richt. These same trustees would have fired each by now.3-9

Mike Leach at WSU the first 3 years. Without the QB play he needs.
We would've seen the results with JG in year 2, determined we messed up bringing him to the SEC and would be discussing his replacement.
