In the early years of wingsuiting, a group planned a stunt jump at New River Gorge on Bridge Day, the biggest B.A.S.E. jumping event in the USA. They did not have a permit, nor did they coordinate with the event organizers. Three wingsuiters exited a small plane to perform a low level fly by of those on the bridge. One impacted the bridge and died. For transporting the jumpers to an illegal demo jump, the pilot lost his license. The entire jumping community condemned the actions of those involved.
