Expectations for Pruitt's 2nd year

5-7 or worse, hes not making it here.

6-6 very meh, I'll have doubts about him making it, but not necessarily all out.

7-5 is a reasonable expectation.

8-4 would be a really a good season, and I can honestly say I wouldnt be surprised to see us here.

9-3 or better....we back.

I'll go 7-5 on a prediction.

Been my exact feelings for some time now.

That’s my point overall. I’m just looking for them to be more competitive in those games. And if we are better than or at the point of expectation we could easily cut the margin of victory of those 2 teams. I think we can beat Florida the way we sit as long as we don’t beat ourselves like last year.
Man I sure do hope you’re right about Florida but there’s still a decent talent gap there and it’s on the road so my guess is we are a year away from taking them down. We’ve closed the gap with some young talent and I definitely think it will be a close game but they’re a little deeper and have fewer question marks than we do. We will see what it looks like after we each get tested early on but I’d guess UF likely gets us something like 28-20.

That’s my thought on the margin of victory as well one way or the other. To your point that they have fewer question marks I also agree but think it MAY have as much to do with the state of UT for the past decade that make some of these questions arise. They have a huge question mark on o line as we do and I agree they are deeper at certain positions like WR but if our DBs look this good now that may be a wash (their WRs vs our DBs)I think we have the stronger LB unit where they have a stronger D line. Once again..... wash imo. QBs are about equal and TE advantage UT. We may shock some people if we play well and not beat ourselves. Fingers crossed.

I think folks underestimate what solid LB play can do for a defense. I also think people underestimate the impact that an elite true freshman can make on the offensive line in the SEC.

To'o'to'o and Crouch put in a good year while Taylor and Thomson lock down the perimeter. Morris is Freshman All-SEC. Throw in a Chaney offense and you've got yourself a 9-3 season. 10-2 if Trey Smith stays healthy.

And so it begins. Welcome to August friends and neighbors! I hope you're right sir!

This is a 9 win team this year with the right QB...

Mahomes, Brady or Breese?

Be careful what you ask for. We don't know really anything about the backups. Well, except that they are always the most popular players on bad teams.
If we lose JG, we COULD be in a disaster.

fewer unknowns than last year, combined with added talent in the Fr class, consistency with the coaching and systems, consistency with a full year in the program and s&c, upgrades a OC and DC, 8 home games and several teams in that middle tier of the schedule going thru some roster turnover at some key spots....yeah, i think it's plenty fair to expect improvement.

and while 6-6 would technically qualify.....i think 7 is doable. 3-1, 1-3, 3-1. the trick will be coming out of that middle part of the schedule and not losing any momentum we may have built up during hte 1st third of the season.

going 1-3 against GA Bama and whoever else(USCe or MSU), and then basically needing/wanting to win out could be a mental hurdle. how confident will they be for that november stretch? big key to me there. competitively, we should be able to compete with everyone in that back 1/3. this team's mental make up will be challenged...if they can weather the mid part of the schedule and stay relatively healthy....7 or 8 wins is on the table....and fair to expect.

we'd do well to win any big games that present the opportunity to do so. especially early on.

i'm excited to see what they can do honestly. i don't think we'll "look" near as bad as we did at times last year, understanding we're still not "there" yet.....

Maurer.

This is a 5 win team with Jennings playing QB. We have a very experienced team that just added some game ready GREAT freshman/juco talent.

My expectations is a 7 win season, but I don't think that moves the needle enough in terms of generating excitement for the program. I think we need to hit 8 or 9 wins with an upset or 2 to really start the momentum needed to get the program rolling again. Anything less than 7 wins is a failure season IMO.

Curious. What are you basing this "game ready" idea on with our two backups who have never taken a live snap afaik.

1 - A more disciplined and fundamentaly sound football team. No more lining up wrong. No more calling time outs to try and get the right personel on the field and no more lousy tackling.

2 - A hungry team that plays hard for 60 minutes regardless of the opponent or the score. Field a team that plays all out every down and never packs it in whether up by 21 or down by 21. A team that progresses and gets better each week, no more backward steps.

3 - A record of absolutely no worse than 7-5, I personally think that 8-4 or 9-3 is very attainable. I'm calling 8-4.

Beating Muschamp would be great - beating Vandy is A MUST! Accomplish that and 7-5 is likely, and a bowl win makes it an 8-win season. That'd be a dream season imo.

Get to a bowl game and don’t lose to Vanderbilt. That’s all I ask. Next year we need to be competing to be a 10 win team though. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

5-3 in SEC play, 4-0 in NC play for a total of 9-3!!! You heard it here first!!! BOOK IT!!!!
That might be possible but chips would have to fall just right and injuries at a bare minimum. We go 9-3 and a bowl game? Recruiting would blow sky high and TN might be too 5 next year!! One can hope right? I still think 7-5 is a safe bet. I’ll be tickled pink with 8-4!!!

Dang! Why don't you just reach for the sky Nega Nancy? LOL If an 8 win season including a bowl win is a dream season for you, I woud love to hear your thoughts on a ok season. I understand UT has had the worse 10 years in program history. But, the vast majority of UT Vol fans dream of being in the playoffs, not the Liberty Bowl, geez!!! LOL

1. Saban loses a National Championship because he lost CJP
2. UT is in SEC Shape; size, strength and weight
3. No one knows what this team can do, this team doesn't resemble last year's team.
4. They could actually lose only two games, but we just don't know, but trying to take my orange glasses off, this team can play toe to toe with everyone............yes, everyone.
5. Barring injuries............10-2 (with Orange Glasses) 8-4 without.

Go Big Orange!
FLY -OUCH!!!!!!!!! You have been one of the biggest diehard pumpers on here. Sorry. Not much you can say in response. You still going to pump Pruitt?????? I feel your pain. Be more careful when you Pump the Sunshine.
