Ok. I definitely wasn't knocking Mauer or the coaching staff. My mind was wondering if he was slow playing it to media and trying to take a little pressure off of Mauer so there aren't unrealistic expectations. The narrative when we took Maurer was that he was less college ready but had a higher ceiling than Howell. Hard to say whether that’s true or whether we just missed out on Howell
I know he'll make mistakes here and there but JJP plays with a ton of intensity! Watching him at the game Saturday has me pumped up for his future here!I wonder if JJP with the 2s means things are clicking for him, or if Pruitt has decided to just play his most talented guys, call aggressive plays, if they make mistakes - fine - but were going down swinging.
He mentioned getting back to his aggressive nature in those QB club comments.
I dont follow recruiting like as closely as some of the guys on here. But on the radio this morning they were discussing it and they acted like he really wanted to come here. I'm sure others on here know one way or the other. Some may know but I don't. Either way, if UT could have gotten Howell, I'm 99% sure, they would have took him
If we can avoid injuries this weekend and Bituli stays on track to be full go, we should be near full strength headed to Gainesville
#mycoachOn Vol Calls they had an interview with Eric Gray. He said his mom had him running cone drills when he was 4 years old. Bob asked him when he first put on pads. Eric said 4 years old he played in a Bantam league. The first time he got hit he came running off the field crying and his mom told him he had to get back out there. That led to him developing his spin move and his ability to make guys miss. He said before he got off the bus for the Georgia State game he was full of emotion, almost cried. because all his life he’d dreamed about this moment, being able to play college football, and now it was here.
At the end of Pruitt’s segment on Vol Calls after Bob had already thanked him and was letting him go, Pruitt asked if he could say something and Bob said yes. Pruitt wanted to thank the fans for their performance last week. He said they gave an edge to the team and really impressed the recruits that were in for the game. They got to see firsthand the passion and energy of the Tennessee fans.
Yes it's all speculation at this point but even from quoted Pruitt has said we needed to establish a backup QB. If we go in with the wrong game plan about how we try to do that it could end up very badly. What do we do if we dont jump out to a big lead? Do we follow whatever plan the coaches came up with to establish a backup QB or do you stick with a potentially struggling QBs? There are a lot of potiental pitfalls heading into how we handling the QB situation this game if we dont come out firing on all cylinders.
