Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

I had some time before catching a flight. I'm not trying to change anybody's opinion or interfere with other posters' agendas. The team is underachieving and problems abound... but the core of the recruiting class is, amazingly, hanging together. Time to triage. Recruiting is critical, and relationships are what's keeping this current class together. Sever that and everything will freefall. One year at a time.

Hope your mother is as well as she can be, @InVOLuntary.
If Pruitt can hold this class together with 4 or 5 wins he will be ok. I'm just worried that they will bail and then it'll be the same ole same ole.

I'll admit, I was real worried after Georgia State. But after BYU, i came away real confident for the future. Young guys looked good, play calling was solid and the defense was night and day better than week 1. Sure there were a couple of lapses on D. But it really was on the QB play that we didnt win. I feel like if we had a compitent QB we'd be pretty solid.

I agree with what you're saying overall, but there's no way you can logically blame that loss on the QB. In spite of how he played, the game was won, over, W, until the horrible defensive lapses. It's a shared guilt. Putting it all on one person is blatantly unfair.

I feel like this season is closer to that "first year" feel, lots of youth on defense. His first real class and we're seeing tons of them playing quality minutes already. Good improvement and growth in the OL already.

I love the staff, I really do. I think JG may just be "who he is" and I can't fault the guy, really can't. Not every QB is a stud or a natural leader. He's had 4 different OCs in 4 years, had 3 different guys at HC and has only had a QB coach for this season. It's caused setbacks mentally that I think only show up in game action, because in practice ya typically don't get hit and ya often -know- the defensive coverage your going against already.

I can’t remember if it was Majors or Fulmer, but there was similar tentative QB play. They took off the no contact practice jerseys. Then the QB that could handle the practice started.

Maybe just the thing that is called for now.

Is that even legal now?

It reminds of
this whole program reminds me of my best friend in high school. He dated this girl for a few years and they were always good together. Then she started being kinda skanky and she left him. Then they got back together and he thought everything was cool but come to find out she was still giving out freebies to everyone in town. He’s married now with 2 kids, so silver linings I guess.
