Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

Anybody think we could lessen the blow of negative recruiting from other schools that is surely happening, by Fulmer coming out and saying CJP is the coach regardless of record this season... just me pondering ways we could possibly save this class if this season continues on this likely downward spiral.
Fulmers only priority should be shutting down the loud ignorant side of our fan base and the media. Voltwitter, FB, Adams etc.

He is our answer kid sounds like boomhauer off off king of the hill.ill take it👀😂😂

Hope they're working with him about staring down receivers though. Only a few times did he not have his eyes locked on the target the entire time.
Can't imagine they wouldn't be however. Normal HS to CFB stuff.

Couldn’t agree more on those points. I just had such high hopes for this class but my hope is dwindling with each passing week.

He is the gunslinger this team needs at this point I think. He may throw a few INTs but I’d be willing to bet he would have quite a few more TDs.

Exactly!...interceptions happen,it’s just part of the game but just give us a chance to win is all I ask and I think it starts with him.

Here's what is a tough pill to swallow...seems like all the talk is, "well the talent on the roster is young, most the upperclassmen are Butch holderovers and that are subpar, we gotta give CJP time (4-5 years) to flip the roster." Ok, makes sense. But then you see teams like the mighty Maryland Terps score 79 and 60-something in back to back games. You see UNC 2-0 with Mack Brown, and I am sure there other instances. So if our problem is our roster, your telling me UNC and MD have better rosters. Seems hard to believe.

You looking for us to talk you into it?

Be the way.he goes through all of his progressions and he’s a runner to keep the defense honest. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

It's a simple answer. Shrout also has a gun, but he's also not mobile. We don't know if he processes what he sees faster than JG or locks on like JG or if he can pre-snap read the D better than JG. Maybe he does, but we know Mauer has attributes that buy time and create offense to reduce dependence on the QB's competence relating to the above. We know he has the attitude of a winner and a quality arm.

I just doubt that Pruitt wants a simple answer. I have seen nothing in over a year and a half to tell me he gets it as a HC. So far he's demonstrated that he would rather lose consistently with the stupid answer. As a HC you know that a quality offense is your best defense while you rebuild your roster. If he knows that he does not demonstrate it. Hope he figures out he would be better off in the long run being successful by winning a lot of games instead of taking the buyout like Dools and the intern.

Maybe they just have a better givashite quotient? After watching Bitch's miserable bunch of soft quitters for years now...I think you can safely say that is the issue.

Terps score over 50 every game for the last 5 years. Nothing new there

Those 2 teams have quarterbacks

Post the checklist you're using.

You're trying to change habits from a prior staff that is proven to fail. The difference is how different those techniques are to the new staff. So if the new staff is telling you to do the opposite of what you've made a habit all these years, it's tough to go 180. On the other hand, if the current staff makes minor tweaks, it's easier to adjust. It's like that with everything in life. Is this the case here? Probably, given the prior staff dismissed strength and conditioning. I havent heard Maryland or UNC having something that extreme. Fedora is a better foundation than Butch Jones. I think we can all agree with that using hindsight.

Devils advocate on JG i guess.... this is why i really wanted yurcich to take the OC job here. I thought a spread out quick tempo and rythrn offense could actually help JG a lot. Basically just hike it and have one maybe 2 reads. Sacrifice less vertical for quicker more simple throws and reads.
JG is not even doing two reads....he has made his mind up before the ball is snapped.

Question for the day:

Are Shrout and Maurer really so terrible that they can’t even make the coaches consider giving them a shot?

Pruitt looked absolutely furious after some of JG’s throws Saturday. As furious as we’ve seen him except for the time he kicked a whiteboard.

If JG can make him that furious and he still won’t even entertain the thought of giving another guy a shot, then the either other guys must be truly terrible or Pruitt doesn’t have a feel for how assess whether a QB is ready or not.

I think if you're gonna make a change it has to be this week. Give Shrout or Maurer the UTC game as a warm up, and then hopefully he'll be ready to play in the swamp. We can't have yet another Peterman issue happen in the swamp.

That being said, listening to Pruitt's press conference yesterday, it doesn't sound like he's going to make a change, but he didn't shut the door completely, so...
