If you no longer care or support a new team

Look. I think some of you need to understand that not everyone that’s a fan has been a fan for 30 years. Some people, like me, are only 31 yrs old and only became a fan in the past 10-15 years. Now imagine their point of view for a moment. They have never seen any type of glory. No big bowls. No SEC championships. Nothing. Just misery and let downs....for 10-15 years...aka...the entire time they have actually been a fan of the program.

It’s hard to do year after year when there is literally no return on investment for the money and emotion you spend on it. It’s literally almost insanity at this point for me. When I became a Tennessee fan 15 years ago, my local teams (SC and Clemson) were garbage and I used to laugh at them. Neither had won anything and Tennessee was a program with such a proud tradition. Now, I second guess even wearing anything with Tennessee on it to work on certain days because I just don’t want to listen to Clemson fans or SC fans crack jokes. And I actually thought me might start climbing back up some this season. Welp. That got shot all to hell pretty quick. 🙄

Now, now, just like we are on a minimum of a five year rebuild for the team, we are on a minimum of a five year rebuild for the fan base. Sure the team sucks now, but just wait, in a few more years they'll be better, just like the fan base, sure they are upset now, they'd like to win a few games, maybe go to a bowl, but as the team gets better over they next five years, the fans will come around at the same rate. Let's don't chase away fans because they don't want to stand by and say nothing about a really poor team, and a the loss to GS and the loss to BYU. We'll need these guys four or five years from now, you know when CP has us "Whipping A** in the SEC".

My grandmother was in school at UT during the Neyland/Cafego era and used to beam with pride telling me about those seasons. She taught there during WWII.

My dad went to school there during the Condridge Holloway years. We watched the 90's Vols together. Espn guys turned off, John Ward and Bill Anderson turned up.

My favorite part about the 98 championship was hearing the whole thing come full circle with a shoutout to a recently deceased George Cafego from Keith Jackson.

I won't be a fan of another team for obvious reasons, and I'll always be open to tuning back in, but time is precious, and in my opinion it damn sure shouldn't be awarded to a coaching staff and administration demonstrating this level of sustained ineptitude. Why follow if you aren't building positive memories with friends and family?

Remember when Tennessee played good football?

Hell, even Peppridge Farms has trouble remembering

Why is it that I picture the OP writing the thread title in crayon on his computer screen until his guardian/parent/caretaker reminded him how to make the words appear in the magic rectangle?

Always this back and forth. I'm all in and pull for the team and the coaches, but they have profoundly underperformed to say the least...or can I not point that out here? I think what makes many of us so frustrated is that our concerns are met with "Oh, well this is a long term, 5 year rebuild job." In other words, get used to sucking and getting beat up by Vandy, GSU, BYU and the like. And for many of us, that is not acceptable Tennessee football. Of course, for some fans that seems just fine.
Maybe instead of expecting the rest of the fans to just accept losing, the "true" fans should stop accepting it for a change.

Why are you still here. All of you folks keep posting dumb ****. Seems to me you'd just shut up and go away...
I would like to think your question is rhetorical but seeing your response to some of the posts I am not so sure? Fan, short for fanatic and guess what, every team has them obviously some of VolNation is gonna be up in arms and say ridiculous things, this is sports, people get passionate. With that said, I am sure you have never said anything stupid out of the heat of the moment, not even start a ridiculous thread.

I get the hatred of the negavols, but...

We are 0-2 for the first time since 1988.

Kinda hard to fault people for being irrationally pissed off.

pretty sure we are all free to voice our frustration on here, and if we didn't then we wouldn't be fans... sorry you are ok with a piss poor performance Bubba
Thats not the point. The point is that you can bitch, moan and groan all you want and it won't make an ounce of difference. Nothing anyone post here will change a single thing. Just a bunch of whinney asses whining. Period.

Well nothing "positive" you post will make a difference either, so whats your point?
