I disagree, I think we had the talent to compete in the SEC with those classes. Coaching was the problem, not talent.

Agree. There’s no difference in the 8th or 13th classes. I’ve always looked at them in tiers.

1-5
6-15
16-25

If you’re consistently in the top 15. You can win a lot of games. Especially in a weaker SEC which is now than it was a few years ago

I don't think your high school numbers argument holds much weight, but I agree he's not ever going to be even above average. You see QB even in the NFL get ruined by a bad OL, and I think that's where JG is. Take too many hits and get used to instant pressure, it seems like some QB aren't able to get out of the habit even if the OL improves later.

Tyler Wilson comes to mind.

How do they not hold much weight? when they are the exact numbers he’s putting up currently?..past history stats in sports that belong to you follow you throughout your career as a player.its something you can look at to see if you’ve improved or not over the years.JG hasn’t.

Palmer was wide open for one Saturday night, and our QB didn’t even give him a chance with the throw.

Not to make an excuse and I haven't rewatched it to confirm, but I think they missed a PI on that play. I believe right when Palmer separated from the DB he was grabbed on the hand or something similar and it took him a step to regain speed. I remember this because the next play we benefited from the phantom facemask when the BYU DL grabbed our RB near the helmet

Yep - I think that pass was on time. Palmer was grabbed right as JG let it go.

Part of the problem I think. We also lost Gooden to injury, to me the defensive struggles we saw against Georgia State came down to inexperience more than lack of talent.

And unfortunately with inexperience you get players who appear to not have any motivation because they are honestly so unsure of what they are doing it's like being stuck in 2nd gear.

Can't change things now, but last year guys like Mincey, Harris, Emerson (especially this guy) shouldn't have been given RS treatment. Put them in for a minimum of 15-20 plays, regardless if they were "ready" or not. They needed those snaps in live action then so they wouldn't be just now getting them.
As a grad student, I feel this on a personal level. Not sure what I'm doing, where I should be, how much effort to put into what, etc. Those guys were feeling the same way.

Because there are a lot of other different variables in play as well. I'd say almost every college QB has worse numbers in college than high school.

Everyone expecting top 5 classes and championships are clueless. We aren't what we use to be. That doesn't mean we can't get back there. I'm here for the top 10-15 classes and 8-4 seasons then propel from there. I'd rather be patient this time around then go out and get a new coach and implement a new system and culture.
This^^^

Maybe our expectations for Pruitt should be lower. We have to stop expecting every coach to be "the guy." Maybe we should expect him to bring back stability, culture, and respect over a few years, then replace him with the guy that can take us back to the next level. Maybe like Jim McElwain was to Florida.

We will honestly struggle to win 3-4 tops if JG stays in and doesn't magically change... we are basically screwed and this will definitely be a red mark against the staff...if they come under fire for it, so be it, they brought it on themselves...
