Give Maurer and Shrout 5 plays each this week . Only 5 plays 3 run two pass. Run them in practice until they are sick of them. Play one with his five plays the first half and the other the second half with his five. I ain't buying these two are not serviceable.

The oline played well against BYU. They should be able to protect the freshmen vs UTC.
I think we only have five plays in our playbook anyways.

If I'm Chaney, which I'm not, I'm sitting JG for each practice this week. Not even let him throw one ball. If he asks why tell him "I don't trust you throwing the football" and make him watch the other 3 QB's throw. Coach up Shrout and Maurer. It's time to move on.
No way. He hasn’t been playing well but he’s trying and he isn’t a bad guy.

Also, Vol fanbase showed OUT this past weekend. 90k at Neyland after that crap against Ga. St. is just beautiful. And we brought the noise, too. Proud to be a Volunteer.

Yes we did. There were some BYU fans in front of us plugging their ears. We were loud, but not ear plugging loud. They must be used to 60,000 sober white folk cheering.

I am not attacking his character. Just going off what I have seen/he has shown with his ability to play the QB position. He isn't getting it done and cost the team this past game. His own HC and OC stopped believing in him. That tells you something. Gotta try something different, IMO.

At this point, we have to continue to recruit, recruit, and recruit. Both lines need considerable good depth. Pruitt and staff need to shut out the noise and continue to recruit at a high level. This program needs a top 10 recruiting class every year in order to be at the top of the SEC. The Vol twitter nation are both a gift and a curse. We don't need the toxicity of the "Fire Pruitt" crowd.

There is a 0% chance of a top 10 recruiting class if we're losing to teams with far, far inferior talent like the last two. Anyone with a brain knows that Pruitt isn't in a secure position, even if every single one of the "Fire Pruitt" crowd got sucked into a black hole. Top recruits want to play for a coach who gets the most out of whatever talent he has. That's how coaches with bad records can still get top recruits, they can show that lack of talent is the only issue. We are a thousand times more talented than the two teams we just lost to, so Pruitt can't sell that message to top recruits.

And it’s not like he’s been selling playing time that well either. Recruiting has been substandard under this coaching staff and without results on the field will only get worse.

I agree, this team shouldn't be losing to BYU or GA state. This team is still learning how to win by finding ways to lose at the end of games. One thing recruits can obviously see, is that you will play as a True Freshman.

Agree, but I wouldn't be opposed to giving one a try this week to see. Unless, that is, the coaches just have no faith in the other 2. And I suspect that's the case. Before the season started everybody here was saying both backups were so much worse than JG that if he got hurt we were screwed, and now one of them is supposed to save the team. If they're that bad it doesn't change just because of JG.

I trust the coaches, who know on each play what the QB was supposed to do and who messed up, who see every minute of practice, who get to looked into the eyes of the QBs, who talk to them, who know what each has to offer, and whose jobs are on the line.

Yeah, I'd love to see a big enough lead that both backup QBs can see a few series a piece.

Last week the complaint was he hates JJ so he refuses to throw to him lol. JG is just not that good, and our OL is even worse. JG isn't as bad as you guys say though. Seeing the wide open person who isn't your first read doesn't happen when your OL sucks. That's most college QB, not just JG. He's been running for his life his whole career, it's habit by this point to lock in on his first look because most times he only has time for one look. Woth our OL, it's not going to matter a lot who the QB is.
Jave, do you watch the game or are you to busy refilling your Chardonnay?

I’ve been wondering if the fans rattled BYU enough to inspire confidence in our team. More specifically, if that game is on a neutral field, does their offense put more points on the board in the first half

Watching some football yesterday, I saw Dak Prescott come over and give the PAT folks high fives and congrats after they scored a TD and PAT. He was engaged in his team. I don't know for certain, but I think the leadership traits is a big thing that JG struggles with. He doesn't seem to have that natural thing that people want to follow and he doesn't seem to go out of his way to be a vocal leader. That is just something you need in your QB and he doesn't seem to have it. I could be wrong but I will be excited when HB gets on campus and can take fill the gaping leadership role.

JG did all that to start the game. Perhaps it was “fake” but the outward body language was that of a leader when the game started

I wish sports worked that way but that don’t. This isn’t the 50s anymore where coaches don’t allow the kids to get water and expect them to play with broken bones. Very different psychology with kids these days. Not that I like it but it’s true
Thank god it’s different.

Substandard? Pruitt did very well last year to close the way he did starting off in a busted position thanks to Butch. He recruited some studs at key positions while evaluating a few under the radar kids who will contribute.

Guess you would prefer your boy Butchie's inflated classes by over signing skill players and 4 stars no other SEC will take. Again, we understand your agenda.

100% going to get bashed, don't care.

I don't know how people are bashing Pruitt for not being able to develop talent. Is it his fault that the Jr. and Sr. classes have sucked since they have been here? Yes, he should still be working and developing the kids, but you can only help them so much. If you look at the 16, 17, 18 classes, they aren't good, yeah they have a couple of players here and there that have panned out but the rest are not good, not trying to crap on our team, but let's be real. I for one think he has developed some of the freshmen class (arguably his only class, yes yes I know the 18 class is his, he should of been recruiting instead of coaching Bama, yeah I get it) but Gray is pretty good, Toot is good, the freshmen O-linemen are playing alright, Burrell needs a little time, but he isn't doing awful. Pruitt needs more time and another class of his own. It will turn around once Butch's guys are completely gone
