So this is a throw away year for you? Results on the field don't matter to you?

Results do matter and read what I posted. His kids are playing hard. Liked the engagement of the staff and they coached hard last night. JG is why we did not win period. We can’t throw it downfield and he had good protection last night and a running game.

GSU game had me thinking this staff was done but the team played hard and that’s what I am looking at. Not an arbitrary win number. Butch gave us 9 wins twice but was built on sand. Pruitts recruits on the field are showing results that are positive. If that continues then that is good results.

But if they both get injured, where do you go? That’s my point. We sit him and we have in reality a two quarterback room.
So we don't sit him and we still have a two QB room. You're will to sacrifice the whole team to appease on player. That's insanity....

I agree with this post..... Heres the deal. If JG puts us in the endzone during any of those drives the Alonte busted play doesn't matter. I hate bagging on college kids but it is so blatantly obvious JG isn't the guy. I'm not on the fire Pruitt wagon. I dont think people realize how much JG hinders us. He's losing games, he's making us the laughing stock of college football, and he's going to start costing us recruits.

He’s a LOSER. Does not win. Prove me wrong LOSER. Not calling poster a loser but JG to be clear.

I want y’all to notice a common denominator.
The lack of production from nearly every big name recruit.
There is a weakness in what is being taught and coached.
These guys aren’t sorry athletes AT ALL.
They aren’t horrible football players, they just haven’t gotten any better since arriving on campus and THATS THE PROBLEM.
what? the freshmen class is the only true class so far and they are doing pretty well. wtf are you talking about? Name names.

If Taylor doesn’t have that bust, we win, and the narrative in here is completely different. It’s how good a job Pruitt did between week 1 and 2 coaching these guys up and correcting the errors and that all we need is a QB. Instead, because of one bust where a guy did not do what coach told him to do, people want to fire Pruitt.

Lunacy
No....we will still be screaming to sit JG. The busted coverage is the least of my concerns from the game yesterday. Chit like that happens every game. However if JG maximized the red zone trips, the busted coverage is inconsequential.

It clearly wasn’t to Pruitt if he was telling recruits to watch our progress in the field.

Nowhere to go right now but we’ve lost to two teams we should have beaten this year and ended last year with two games where the team had checked out. There is no evidence whatsoever that Pruitt has remotely any idea what he is doing aside from showing more fire on the sidelines after being criticized all week. If he has something to prove that he can do the job here besides a hard fought loss to a G5 team, now is the time to show it.

So let's see a show of hands.... If we win 2-3 games this year, who's still on the Pruitt bus? Just chocking it up to bad players? How you gonna feel when we go 0'fer in conference? Because that's a definite possibility.
Give him a QB that has the ability to win a game. The bad oline last year masked much of JG's shortcomings. Pruitt just found out. I want him to be decisive now and go another direction.

I'm gonna embrace our spot in the world. Yeah, our team isn't good, but that doesn't prevent me from being a great fan. I can go and I can shout, and I would love to see Tennessee embrace that top to bottom. We may be bad, we may even be the worst, but dangit, I'm Scots Irish and stubborn as crap. We can choose to take pride in who we are as a fan base, and do something that nobody else has done...support a losing team...support *our* losing team.

It's in our blood. Own it. They didn't want us in the UK, and they didn't want us in the colonies, so we moved to the mountains and built a life in difficult circumstances. We are still those people. While the rest of the world may continue to mock us, we can force them to respect us by doing something that none of them have the courage to do. Defy convention. Defy expectation. Be better.

Anybody willing to join me?

probably true. i was pretty upset after sitting on 1:00 and 4th and 1, kicking FG.

substitution errors, calling TO's. leaving them time on clock to end game and not closing them out despite numerous opportunities. That's Butch **** right there.

People say that's on JG, yes he is garbage. But man, Pruitt looked in over his head.

i mean i had my pitchfork out.

You might want to take a trip over to his thread and then come back and edit this post.....
Why because he was at the game? Because he posted a picture of a UT flag? Because Austin Prive wrote an article? I hope I'm wrong and he stays with us. But I'm not hanging my hopes on anything g I read over there.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that except for the sole reason for losing the game being all on JG. He definitely bares much if the blame but I think there's plenty more to go around. So many defensive bust, several timeouts to get people where they need to be lined up and the huge bust at the end. Did the coaches yell more last night? Did the players seem to play harder? Yes to both. But just because the coaches yelled more doesn't instill a bunch of confidence. I've got to see more than showing some emotion before he gain my trust back.

I'm literally convinced Nick Saban and Dabo wouldn't be able to make it here. Tennessee is a storied program with rich history, the best fans, and great facilities yet it's a terrible terrible job and everyone knows it. I sincerely don't believe we will ever win the SEC East in my lifetime.

The real freakout begins when Bailey decommits later this year.

So then what makes it a terrible job?

I want JG to sit as much as anyone. On the other hand, if he’s benched, how will he respond? He’s a selfish little pouter. We have seen this not been told this. We bench him then we are down to two QB’s cause he checks out and will not be a good backup who will fight to win it back. Then, we have burned A redshirt for BM cause he will have to play. That doesn’t bother me but with our line, we could see those two kids hurt and JG already checked out. Bet coaches know this as well and maybe that’s why they are hesitant? JG is a little baby.
This isn't a reason to not bench him. Start Mauer. Ok so you burn his redshirt. We dont have the luxury of preserving red shirts. Not now and probably not for the next 2-3 years. Start Mauer, get him some experience. If Bailey comes then you have a backup that has played in the SEC. If Baey doesn't come Mauer has experience and coaches know his game capabilities. Keeping JG in the lineup because he will whine is bs. CJP needs to nut up and confront that if it happens.

Not having a productive quarterback is our problem. The plays are there, the receivers are open on their routes but when you can’t get them the ball it limits our ability. You expect a man to come in and fix 3 bad hires worth of issues in 14 games? The program needs continuity. He is learning on the job and is building this program back with the foundation to what builds a successful SEC team.
That’s why he’s getting paid $3.8 mil a year.

Last week I thought this way but now I’m thinking the only way out of this hole is to support Pruitt and give him the time for a true rebuild. He’s a far better coach than the last few guys and surrounded by great coaches and all the support staff he needs.

The truth is with a good QB we’re 2-0 right now despite all the other issues. The best players on the team are freshman and sophomores, they wouldn’t even be playing yet at Bama or UGA or Clemson. We’re forced to play them before they’re ready. It’ll be the same way with the 2020 and 2021 classes as well.

There’s no way around this rebuild. Firing Pruitt isn’t the answer. Not this week, in November or next November. He didn’t suddenly become a bad football coach after arriving in Knoxville. Neither did Chaney or any of the other guys.

Recruit, develop and time is the only answer right now. Blowing it up will only delay any progress and no matter who the next coach is the same cycle will occur.

Again, a good QB and we’re 2-0.

Or maybe I’m wrong and let’s just keep firing and hiring new coaches every 2-4 years until one is able to win despite lack of talent and development.
This all day long. CJP isn't the problem. Will he get us a NC? No. Can he get us out of a rut? Sure can.

Do you not understand me? The guys on the roster aren’t showing improvement. Guys are the same players they were the second they stepped on campus. Most making the same mistakes they have been making since day one.
I’m telling y’all, we have gotten to a place with our program where playing tough vs a bad BYU team is a positive.
The talent on their roster is NOWHERE NEAR ours. And they made adjustments all game to stop what we do. We actually wilted and gave away a late lead.
The coaching leaves a lot to be desired.
Great coaches have an immediate impact on style of play and playing tendencies immediately. Nick Saban walked in and had players playing better. Even if the record didn’t show right away. That’s what you want to see in coaches. Urban Meier, same. Even Mack Brown has UNC Playing smart and better football. Meanwhile we, play like ass vs Georgia state and BYU. Bad fundamentals, misalignments, penalties, undisciplined play, Garbage substitution patterns... etc

Shrout and Maurer also have to give the coaches a reason to do that, if they aren’t stepping up in practice and the film room/weight room then it will never happen.
I don’t care how they look in practice. Let’s see how they look under the lights. Give them a chance. Dobbs was a terrible QB to everyone because of practice reports, but he literally saved our seasons for a couple of years.
