Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

Dunno how anyone can hate on the coaches. It is easy to see that the guys they have evaluated and recruited are good football players. Heck Henry TooToo almost had the most tackles again except for thanks to The coaches realizing Flowers shouldn’t be starting Theo Jackson led the team in tackles.
Because we're 0-2? Against teams we should beat. Teams that we match up talent wise with. On our home field. With multiple blunders on both sides of the ball. Toot did awesome but is because he's been coached up or because he's just a great talent?

Also, hate is a strong word. I love my son but I also know he'll never be on the PGA tour. I feel the same way about Pruitt. I like him but don't thing he was ready to be a head coach at the university of Tennessee.

I want JG to sit as much as anyone. On the other hand, if he’s benched, how will he respond? He’s a selfish little pouter. We have seen this not been told this. We bench him then we are down to two QB’s cause he checks out and will not be a good backup who will fight to win it back. Then, we have burned A redshirt for BM cause he will have to play. That doesn’t bother me but with our line, we could see those two kids hurt and JG already checked out. Bet coaches know this as well and maybe that’s why they are hesitant? JG is a little baby.

If this is the case, then you have to sit him even more. You can't let that kind of entitled, cancer permeate your culture.

Was in that camp last week but they had this ream prepared and they coaches hard and played the young guys. I still am looking to see the product on the field and how well they recruit, and it’s still looks bad but was way better week 2 than week 1. Biggest thing is most guys making plays and looking good are Pruitt’s guys and JJ of course.

Better place than last Sunday but still not convinced he’s going to do it but feel better chance of it today than last week. He’s got to sit JG IMO but like I posted above, maybe they don’t have enough bodies in the QB room if JG is the puss we think he is when the baby doesn’t get his 👶 🍼
Excellent slip IMO.

I agree, especially about that being the reason coaches would be hesitant!! It’s a tough situation all the way around. Im just at a loss for words with JG’s ability to read the field and go threw his progressions.

If that's the reason he is starting, fire them all.

Random, but serious... there is absolutely no reason at this point that we cannot have Crouch practice a few plays each week for a third and fourth and short to power up the middle (or wildcat)... he played well at LB, but no doubt we would have picked up at least one of those short downs with his size and power... these are the little things that are negatives with the staff right now with me...

Same on the coaches.
Was out last week but the turnaround basically everywhere but QB, pulled me back to just letting it unfold.

Can't say enough about the difference. Just sucks that one position is the most important, but was really proud at several different moments last night.
I'm sporting my orange today 100%

Effort was there last night. It’s going to get worse. CJP biggest challenge the rest of the year is not winning games. It’s not loosing the team. If he keeps his team and they continue to play with good effort the young guys will get better and we may salvage something out of the back half of the schedule.

That’s what I’m worried about. Hopefully the team that played with some fire last night is who we really are, and not the lethargic team from week 1. Even so, how long will they stay engaged if we’re 1 and something in October.

I watched the game at home, and I couldn’t fall asleep until after 4:00am I was so torn up over it. I couldn’t read all the post-mortum but it seems like a lot of y’all are acknowledging the effort.

They have to bench JG, right? I don’t care if he pouts. He cost us that game, no doubt about it. Watching on TV you can’t see those deep routes developing, but it’s odd how you can tell he’s throwing it late before you see the intended receiver. He just has an extra hitch where he’s thing too much or something. That first touchdown wouldn’t have been anywhere close to DWA if it got to the back of the end zone. And when he got to the sideline he was grinning and snickering because he knew he’d just made a terrible throw and for away with it. The interception was mind boggling.

I would think the coaches have to realize that the record this year is secondary to building the team and program that has a chance to rise from the ashes. And, to me, that means you’ve got to figure out which other QB is better and ride with them.

While I couldnt sleep last night (and maybe why I couldn’t sleep), I was thinking about the ramifications if we don’t rise from these ashes. Like, what do they do with the stadium if we get to a point where the upper bowl is consistently only 10-20% filled? In TBA, they can black out the upper part of the arena. What would they do at Neyland?

I’m so down, I’d quit if I could. But I know I can’t.

The biggest play that swing the game IMO

The reverse on 4 and 1. Stupid Stupid Stupid.
Chaney is making me question his thought process in critical moments. Called a good game but in the clutch not his best.

Bumpus played 1 hella of game. After all the position changes it paid off last nite. Also OL looked a trillion times better. Still don’t like rotating the guys the way they did. Really think this has to ultimately due with Trey health. Everyone talks about JG but #2 on defense has no processed AT ALL.
JG setting up their offense for it's only touchdown in regulation after we controlled the first half half is the easy pick for swing play. 2nd would have been JG being 2 days late to JJ before the half.

Chaney was forced to scheme around JG the rest of the game even with a great night from Ty and good nite from Gray.

Every thing else that happened revolved around that play.

I think he could compete at a high level on the trail f he could show results on the field. How manhh highly rated players have said they're waiting to see improvement on the field? After two games what do you think they are seeing? Pruitt's days are numbered, we just don't know what the number is.

Actually they are not. Hearing a lot of positives with the heart his kids are showing. Still can’t lose the way we did but Warrior and Tae gotta have that kid down in bounds on the 45.

I first went to Neyland at age 4 with my dad. Little did I know that would be the start of an incredible fandom.

The highlight of being a recruited athlete was an unofficial visit to Tennessee. In sports there is always that first love and for me it is Tennessee football, but it’s so much more then that. To this day Dad and I talk Tennessee football at least a couple times a week. The lows are hard, but it’s still given me so much. Sure I have spent plenty of money on it and want results, but I also see something in these young guys. I saw more of what I wanted out of Pruitt last night.

I’m gonna keep showing up, cause what’s the other option? Walking away or not caring simply isn’t one for me after 32 years.

Man I can’t wait till we get this right again.

This!

Yeah. I was curious to see how they responded as a team and it was there.

The struggle now is knowing what your dealing with at QB and do you mentally bring an effort.

I don’t think you can worry about that. You have to play the kids who will lead you to victory no matter what. The team will see that he is pouting and the Freshman QB whoever it might be will get the respect of the team as long as he isn’t just a pile of poop.

But if they both get injured, where do you go? That’s my point. We sit him and we have in reality a two quarterback room.

Are we willing to sacrifice the record to build for the future? At this point, I say yes. Everyone counted Ga State and BYU as wins. And that was on the low end of 7-5 or 6-6.....for all intents and purposes, the season is gone. Play for next year.

Pruitt isn’t going anywhere and he isn’t the problem so go ahead and believe it.
He doesn’t have the ability to lead a football team. He is running out of excuses. He’s had 8 months to get this team ready and they have regressed. If you don’t see him as being the problem Then im not sure we are watching the same team the last few years

Come on, man. You know I’ve been around here a long time, since Kiffin hightailed it in the middle of the night. I’ve endured the stink that has been associated with this program for almost 15 years, why would I quit now? I was just trying to lighten the mood. Tennessee is my alma mater… I could never quit on them.

If I wasn’t so old, I would’ve put the old Jones gif from Georgia game. I always like that BS one he has.
