Effort was there last night. It’s going to get worse. CJP biggest challenge the rest of the year is not winning games. It’s not loosing the team. If he keeps his team and they continue to play with good effort the young guys will get better and we may salvage something out of the back half of the schedule.

My post game randoms:

  • I've been a JG defender and I am here to eat my words. The kid is just ruined. I don't think he sucked when he came here, but I think the four OC's, no OL's, no S&C, no QB coach for his first 2-3 years etc has ruined him. Tennessee did him a disservice with that and what we see now is the result. A shell shocked one read QB with no feel for the game and terrible vision. I'm not going to take to social media and bash him or anything, but reality is the sooner the JG era is over, the better. He is a liability.
  • Defensively, Warren Burrell is a liability right now. Two weeks in a row he's been targeted. Last night he was playing 42 yards off the line of scrimmage every snap. All the VQ fluff blurbs about him being this and that seem like fake news.
  • On that note, I'll never pay for any 247 or VQ subscription again. Those guys don't know ish. Can't gleam anything from watching 7 minutes of practice. And recruiting is so dumb with kids just saying whatever, that even the recruit interviews are useless. But I digress.
  • Crouch is a man.
  • To'oto'o is going to be one of the best ever to play the position here, all said and done.
  • Eric Gray might leave here the schools all time leading rusher. I love me some Ty Chandler, but Gray makes Chandler look average.
  • Not even taking the first sack into consideration as he wasn't even blocked, but Bumphus looked at home on the DL. Glad we have him for next year as well.
  • I really, really, really, really, really don't like the shuffling of OL. I don't know how after a spring and fall camp, you don't know who your best 5 are. Pruitt, Chaney, and Friend know far more about the game than I ever will, but all I've ever heard is how important it is for the OL to have chemistry and confidence in one another. That'll never happen if you're rotating 8-10 guys in to include having them play multiple positions.
  • Jauan Jennings. I mean, really, 'nuff said. He is a gift. We are so lucky to have him.
  • Savion and Middleton both seem like JUCO busts. Or at least complete non-factors.
  • Speaking of non-factors, Nigel Warrior. Maybe I was blinded by his high ranking in HS, his pedigree, and my simple want for him to be great.... but I really thought Pruitt and Ansley would turn him into a force. He aint ****, except a step slow and mostly out of position.
  • Oh, and can we please get an interception? Someone? Anyone? If only by accident?
  • Didn't make any big plays but Kivon Bennett seemed awfully close a time or two.
  • Darrel Taylor finally made an appearance. Likely to disappear for a couple weeks though.

Lastly, I can't relate to these "Fire Pruitt" idiots.
Nothing to even discuss, we're not firing Pruitt right now.

People talking ish about Burrell clearly didn't watch him improve as the game wore on. He's a True Frosh corner and he's getting better.

He played against better QBs and passing attacks in HS than he did the past two weeks here, so idk why him being a freshman matters.

He’s 12 yards off the ball and bails every snap. Is every route a go route?

Agree on the effort being there. I feel terrible for JJ, Ty, Eric and Brent. We need a dawg on defense and we need a QB. The defense really only gave up 9 points in regulation though the bust in the secondary at the end cannot happen. This one is on JG, JP and JC. We rushed for 250 yards, had two plays over 50 yards and scored 16 freaking points and gave away 7 on a throw into triple coverage. I will be there this Saturday because my daughter gets to be on the field before the game. Losing like this will really make me appreciate it when we finally win one.

Okay boys and girls, this is now what we know after two games...

JG is a tremendous liability and always has been. There has been plenty of argument over the past few years, but there is no doubt now. The kid has literally regressed. The OC now doesn't even have confidence in him to make SEC throws and had to adjust and just run the ball... We had a chance to convert at least 3 TD's last night (in the red zone too many times) if he could do his job, but instead settled for FG's and that in itself, helped in the loss. I hope folks aren't saying he threw a TD because he didn't... he threw an interception that the guy couldn't handle and tipped it into JJ's hands...

There is absolutely no reason not to play the other QB's now and try and show recruits and parents that we've gone total rebuild and they can come and be a part of it... This JUST MIGHT keep Bailey on the hook and not have him jump ship. It may also salvage a few recruits. We keep JG in, and that is on the coaches, makes them look stupid, and will KILL recruiting.

A Taylor-- completely blew it... twice... As bad as things went throughout the game, we still could have walked out with a W, but that one play lost the game...BUT, he is just a sophomore and he is still learning and developing. The only reason I have dogged him is because of the posters on here thinking and saying he is the second coming... he is just AVERAGE right now, but could be good.

Lot of young kids out there last night, learning, giving it their all, and making plays. The O line was much improved and at least gave us a chance. The D was much improved up front and got some push and penetration at times. Made me a little hopeful. Secondary was very disappointing, which was supposed to be one of our strengths I thought...

At this point Pruitt has to make a huge decision and it will be pivotal in his career and chances of turning this thing around. Will be interesting to see what direction he takes. I think it's pretty obvious to the fans what needs to happen, but this is on him and his staff... and FULMER.

I only yelled twice last night, when AT blew the play that cost us the game in regulation, and then again when he blew coverage and let a much larger WR get the angle inside on him right into the endzone for a TD...

Excellent points. Some positives for sure. We HAVE TO SIT JG.

He was covering the fade and in that moment, it made sense. I wont bash AT on that too much. It's a coin toss. Maybe he can improve on small keys of shoulder movements but hes a sophomore. He will get it.

JG is having a terrible yr no doubt. But the way we criticize him is over the top. We blame EVERYTHING on JG. We lost bc we couldn’t convert 4 and 1 on several occasions and the defense couldn’t stop BYU with 17 secs and NO timeouts from there own 20 yard line PERIOD. As bad as JG was we lost that came bc of 17 secs.

We have to try at least.
I'm not in the boat as some posters, "they literally can't be worse", well, yeah, they could. If they're truly "throwing the ball to the wrong team", a couple of quick pick sixes and we're calling for their heads.

But at this point, we've got to find out. Too many times QBs do the opposite of practice. JG obviously does so maybe Shrout or Maurer does also.
We have to find out and I want to this coming game.

He’s Fkn putrid

Things are always so hard for us lol.

Wasn't surprised BYU came back at the end. I've seen that show too many times to act shocked about it. The only reason I thought they might not was because they weren't very good.

But we found a way.

Okay. We lost again. The unthinkable happened. Again. What are we gonna do? Go be Georgia fans? Eff that.

I liked our physicality, especially on special teams. That's what I expected from Pruitt teams. Now if we could get that to translate to defense on a consistent basis. They were better. But still so many mistakes. It is what it is at this point and that's what happens when you play true freshman everywhere.

Guarantano is very much not the answer. It sucks because he made some nice throws. But man. You just can't trust him to make the play when it comes down to it. I hope we see one of the young guys get a shot. JG belongs on the bench.

I'm holding onto the fact that we're going to keep improving. As long as Pruitt doesn't lose the team we will keep getting better. Just have to survive the mental onslaught from media and fans and not let that stop the progress.

It sucks. But it's where we are today. Im not going anywhere. And I'm not going to start considering Pruitt as done until we see how the season plays out. If he loses the team he may be gone. But that would be a shame. This year was always going to be tough. Just have to survive it and keep growing.

We'll get there someday. One way or another.

Go big orange forever

You're not gonna find a player that doesn't make a mistake.
I'm sorry but how you got to those 17 seconds when you should be up double digits, matters.
And it matters a lot.

JG threw an int that led to 7 of their points

he consistently threw late passes and threw into double to triple coverage

He missed wide open receivers CONSISTENTLY

we couldnt convert on 4th and 1 because no one took JG throwing as a legitimate option

The only thing consistent about the kid is that makes the wrong reads no matter the call.
