How do we know he's not?
just listening to folks talking about him not really having a spot right now. he's been repping at LT and LG i think, and talk was that he was still a little too light, and others were ahead of him at this point.

forget where it was posted........

Price said on Swain's show (and I think the VQ Podcast too) that Jahmir could start the other tackle position at the start of the season along with Tatum. Both freshmen may be on the second string to start, but both could end up starting down the line.
oh, well that's great. that's a bit of a departure from what i remember hearing/reading........

and it's not like the overall tone was that he couldn't play, just that there were others pushing past him at this point. he's still gonna play a lot im sure.

I think the expectation was that Morris would face a shorter learning curve since he was here in the spring. But he might need a little more time. JJohnson has added 30 lbs, but is still a bit undersized. He has the experience, though, and can move all along the line, filling in where needed. Tatum has really improved, and Kennedy looks solid. There are options everywhere, so it's all good.

I think the big thing that is getting overlooked is Tatum's development. Its obvious this guy has brought it this off season and pretty much has made sure he has a spot somewhere along the starting 5. Him outplaying the freshman is a good thing guys.
I’ve been surprised at the buzz he’s been getting. I’d basically closed the door on him after last year. Didn’t think he looked like he carried the new weight well. Hoping to eat a bunch of crow there!

My cousin just passed. Please keep the family in your prayers. Been a tough road for the parents losing two daughters early in life. There are things more important than football. Heard is heavy right now. Thanks to all who prayed.

So sorry to hear this. Peace and comfort during this tough time.

agreed. i thought Jamir would be further along.
I know he’s put on a lot of way, but he still looks like he needs to bulk up a bunch. Hopefully he keeps working his tail off even if he’s not starting, because odds are he’s the 6th or 7th best guy either way and we’ll need him at some point.

Maybe he gets some work in heavy short yardage sets as a TE or something?

where do you think we land with Trey Smith? go or no go?

OL musings: why move a guy if he did great at where he played last year! Dang it, leave tre at RG and JJ at left guard! I don’t agree that the best OL should play LT. If he sucks at it (like Trey did last year), then DONT do it. In the case of Trey, we’re talking All-American at RG, maybe the best to ever play the position at UT. Would you want there best there is at one position or mediocrity at another?

In the case of JJ, he looked dang good at LG last year. LEAVE HIM THERE! This is what I don’t like about getting “the best 5” on the field. Why try to get the best 5 when two of them are the best at guard, but ain’t any better than then backup at tackle? In that case now you’re no better at the tackle position and weaker at the guard spot. Defies logic.

Friend and Pruitt have a chance to do what’s right. It doesn’t look like they will. I was hoping Chaney would step in and fix this, but he hasn’t.

Don’t bother pointing out what JJ’s body looks like. Look at his performance and not his body shape. He was good at LG last year and I would expect him to be better, and the best choice for the position.

How about it guys? Anyone feel me here? Can we let guards be guards and tackles be tackles?

He wants to play. If he remains healthy and clot-free, they should clear him for full contact and put him on the new protocol for the season. He's such a great kid, with a tremendously supportive family. I really hope it works out for him.

me too. and i guess if you were wanting to buy time, it's probably not an absolute must that he's getting a ton of snaps against GSU...but you'd have to think that they'd like to get him some live snaps before you get in to the meat of the season.

i'm sure he'll be on a pitch count so to speak....

waiting on answers here, and with solomon, is not a ton of fun, selfhisly speaking that is. lol.

New protocol? Do they have a different approach planned for this year than last?

Rybka chosing Kentucky over TN is unsurprising. Big kid, not much technique or particular skillset. Can be soft at times. Think the staff backed off to pursue a more refined product.
