Overrated as a recruit yes but by Tennessee people no. I’m talking more of people acted like they were a lot better than they actually were while here. I think over hyped would be the better term.

Most overhyped:
AJ Johnson
Kirkland JR
Justin Martin (breakerboy lol)
Casey clausen*** (i know i know Road warrior and ice man but we won Some games in spite of him bc of a loaded roster. He’s our Trent dilfer so to speak)

Under appreciated:
Dobbs
Meachem
Cordarelle Patterson
Jason Allen
Dan Williams

Regarding underappreciated players--

What about Danny O'Brien?
He got injured during the TAMU game in 2016, and apparently he failed a drug test and got kicked off the team effective immediately. I know we had our issues with Hurd, but I gotta think O'Brien clogged the run game enough to still get us to 9 or 10 wins after losing to Bama. Dude was a solid player at the very least.

18 year olds say the darndest things.

At 31 I hope I dont have an 18 year old 😨

That's a pretty bad counter...you don't have to like AJ Johnson, and you don't even have to think he's a good player. But stats are all we can objectively use to debate "good" or "hype" and when you're 2nd ALL-TIME in most major categories for your position it's hard to say he wasn't good or properly hyped.
Ehh... not entirely true with regards to stats.

Lebron is gonna retire with all kinda stats, and he’s still not that good and vastly overrated. 😏

Quick rant...
I bought my son a Riddell Speedflex for his middle school football, and the local yocal equip supplier won’t approve it to play in. They have to sign off on all equip used, and are telling me I have to bring it to them, pay a fee for them to send it to Riddell to be “re-Furbished”?!?! They’re even a Riddell dealer! I did not know they were or would have bought thru them, but bought it direct. Such BS!!
End of rant, thanks for listening!! Lol

Drew Richmond

Drew Richmond was a disappointment, but he played in numerous games and was a starter last season.

He wasn’t exactly aggressive like you want from a big guy but he did contribute at times last season as a starter.

To my knowledge, Dillon Bates was not a starter at UT and did little during his career to contribute. 😀

The Athletic had an incredible story on Blake and Wendy recently. He is a man of his word. Prayers go out for them, their family, the program, and the community.

I posted during the search that he was my back up HC pick if Pruitt did not take the job. Quality man and coach. Offensive guru.

CP wasn't really a great WR here. He was something entirely different. He was an amazing playmaker but in hindsight he was (and still is) a guy you try to get the ball to but doing so is far more unorthodox than it should be because he's not a true WR or RB. He's not the kind of guy that will run a route and always be there when the QB looks downfield. Instead, the QB has to find him on the field and deliver (Bray was incredibly good at that when they played together but not everyone is).

That said, I've never met any UT fan that didn't think CP was amazing.

It was known that he wasn’t the best route runner even coming in as a recruit, nor did he really remember the playbook but because of how big he was as a play maker.Tyler Bray being the QB you find him on the field wherever he is. it also helps that Justin hunter,Zach Rodgers,Alton Howard,Vincent Dallas and Jason croom was on both sides of him so he didn’t get double teamed and even when he did he still made plays. He was just a once in a life time playmaker that you get the ball to no matter what.i think it was stated multiple times that he more or less just ran around to an extent on the field just waiting for the ball to be thrown his way😭😂😂 unethical as hell but it worked.🤘🏽🍊

Richmond started only because we were so thin on OL, and particularly at OT. Or I doubt he would have seen the field much at all. 4 years in and he was still a false start waiting to happen. I agree that Bates was a bust, but he at least had somewhat of an excuse of nagging injuries putting him behind the learning curve early. Who was the bigger bust doesn't really matter.
