All that said we clearly are going to have some depth issues on both lines this year...We need another good recruiting cycle to truly be able to address the depth concerns on the lines of scrimmage.

I think that's evident especially on the D-Line, although I feel much better about the O-Line.

Shrout was the clear backup coming out of spring. Still wonder why they didn't use four games to get him some game experience last year. That could be our biggest pain point.
Yeah, Maurer ain’t close right now.

I’d rather have Shrout out there than the situation we had last year with Chryst. At least there’s the potential for something good to happen.

If JG gets hurt, there will be a "We're screwed" moment. There's a significant drop off there.

In terms of maturity and game readiness, there's a clear gap. We'll see what Chaney can do, but JG absolutely can't take the hits like he did last year. The OL will be better, but JG's going to have to be more aware, as well.

I like Shrout. He's durable and he has the arm. He just needs confidence and experience before being thrown into a sink or swim situation. Hopefully, he'll get some PT in the opener and build on that.

I like him too. He’s going to throw interceptions but hopefully he throws enough touchdowns to make up for it.

We’ve seen Chaney work with a Shrout clone here and our offense was as good as it’s ever been.

Eric Gray reminds me a lot of Alvin K when it comes to his speed and elusiveness. Kid will be a game changer IMO for our offense. Every time he gets the ball you get the sense he could do something special. I think JT is our best option at back up qb based on what I have seen but I certainly don’t believe we want to see either him or Maurer in a game situation. There is definitive size difference on the O line with the addition of Wanya and DW...I believe our qb will actually have time to throw the ball this season which is exciting considering what we have had to watch the last few years. JG looks decent with his accuracy but I think Chaney will finally take advantage of his speed and elusiveness and let him run this year which he could be lethal with.

The future is bright...the size difference in this years team compared to last is noticeable especially when standing next to them.
I see somewhere between a 7 and 9 win team here and I see the building blocks truly in place for a great future.
You mentioned the hope of Crouch being worth it last year. Now that you've seen him in pads at Tennessee, was he worth it?
