Completely accurate. Way more so when talking 2nd year. Not only is it possible for any team to have a decent jump from 1 year to the next, it's common for the 2nd year coaches/teams.And actually brother, your #3 is dismissible because THIS team is 0-0. 2018 Vols are not the 2019 Vols. Their record last year is not attached to them in any way. We know absolutely nothing about this team (other than the silliness of your 1,2,4) until they step on the field.
True, it doesn't, but it gives you better odds of doing so.Facts do matter.
Just because you weigh over 300 pounds, it doesn’t mean you can block a starting SEC DT.
Yes, we know several things with 100 percent certainty.
1. Pruitt is the Head Coach.
2. The Vols are a member of the SECE.
3. The Vols are coming of a 5-7 season and 2-6 in the SEC.
4. The Vols are scheduled to play 12 games this season. These we know for certain.
These are beliefs, assumptions and inferences and NOT facts.
1. The Vols will be better this season because of OC Chaney.
2. The Vols will win more games this season because they look better getting off the bus and in drills.
3. The Vols will win more games this season because they are a year older.
4. The Vols will win more games this season because of the weaker schedule.
5. The Vols have more 300 plus linemen this season than last so they will win more games this season.
I could go on but I won’t. The Vols certainly could be better this season but they will need to prove it on the field by beating teams that they have been beating.
I wish there was a rule in college football that mandated that the media gets to see all of practice. You could put rules around when they’re allowed to video and maybe not allow them to comment on formations. It sucks that we only hear about 10 minutes of practice a day.
8-4
Reasons:
1) Second year in a strong S&C program.
2) Chaney - including his scheme that works with this roster and against SEC opponents.
3) Ansley - is in CJP's head and will have the D executing their scheme.
4) CJP - he can now fully be a HC. He put out fires all last season relating to the poor roster situation, S&C, scheme implementation, poor play calling on O, etc. That stops with two quality OC's.
5) Freshmen - there are a handful of true and RS freshmen who are very capable of having quality seasons. Even more than proved themselves last season. If they happen to come through at OT, DL, LB, and DB - well - look out, it may get very interesting.
Those are reasons for your optimism based on nothing more than opinions and assumptions.
Logic is based on clear reasoning rather than opinions or assumptions.
Logic is based on wins and losses.
Logic dictates that since Alabama, Georgia, Florida, SC, Mizzou, and Vanderbilt have multiple game winning streaks over the Vols that they will win again this season. Not because the Vols aren’t making progress but rather because their programs are currently in a better spot than UT’s.
It’s logic to think that Miss State will beat the Vols this season because they have been a better program in recent years.
UT rarely loses to Kentucky so it’s logic to believe that UT will beat them again this season.
That’s not going to change until it’s proved or disproved on the football field.
Can the Vols overcome some of these programs this year based upon the progress they have made this off season? We are all hoping they do.
That’s the reason they play the games and we watch them.
Lol at your first 1 and 2 and 4.
And while we do know for certain what our record was last year, you cannot use that to deduce how we will fair this year.
As far as your second list, those are all fair points for an inductive argument. I will go further and say that all those points provide pretty solid support for a 2 win improvement this season.
I wear flip flops every day of my life and I wear jerseys on game days!
