Vols Practice Thread #7

None of that butch crap where he started Colton jumper over DKjr and pretty much costed us the Oklahoma game.

....
I don't know man. DKjr when healthy was better. That Oklahoma game was on our offensive coordinator though. He couldn't do anything the 2nd half. Jumpman missed some tackles and jumped offside I believe, but that guy always had our defense in position.

It seems like all the LB talk has been around the ILB. I assume that the only two spots that are more than likely locked down is Taylors and Bitulis. I wonder why there hasnt been much talk about that 4th OLB spot. Deandre Johnson is a tough kid and has shown some potential last year, but unless he is significantly better its hard to believe that he has that spot locked down.

Theyve said so far D Johnson looks to be the guy to start out, but Crouch and Harrison are both too good and will factor in immediately. If you notice they don't show a ton of practice film of the OLB in these short clips. But best believe that position has also improved TREMENDOUSLY.

Looks as if To'oto'o is gonna be tha man....hoping D. Johnson is able to be a more consistent pass rusher this year...if not, lets give a dog a bone to crouch

Unfortunately, he had them two senseless holding penalties on two straight 4th downs that could have won the game. Ruined my chance to talk sh$t to the OU fans in my family lmao

I wonder what's going on with Jahmir. I would assume he would be in line to start since he started all 12 games last year.

Younger guys better maybe? Not necessarily a bad thing.

Unless you're him. Upperclassmen who dont start don't go to the league. Juco kids typically go through an awful lot to make it to a power 5 school. He picked one with a doodoo OL situation so he could get time and give himself a shot at the pros.

I want the best 5 to play regardless of their personal situation, but if he doesn't play I will feel genuinely bad for him.

As Mr Burns would say....

Excellent.

It’s about time Tennessee started pumping out LBs again. You get that feeling from the group we have. They asserted themselves as the front runners.

Thats probably the case. It also doesn't help too that he cant add the neccessary weight to play guard like last year. We originally recruited him to play tackle anyway and Morris looks like the real deal. We should always play the better player regardless of classification.

I'm loving these positive reports about Nigel Warrior.

Warrior ascerting leadership!! Ansley stepped back letting Nigel Warrior take command and bark at the troops for not being in formation ready to go.

Hopefully Nigel Warrior can tighten up his pass protection and be in line for a monster year. His run stopping and physicality has never been in question.

Legacy. It's in his blood.

Bituli played some OLB in the spring game, and I believe some of these reporters have stated that he has worked some at OLB this month. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start at OLB along with Taylor, particularly if Henry T and Ignont continue to surge at ILB.

Why would you move Bituli from the middle? Bituli will be used exactly the same way Alabama uses their MLB.
