depends on which roku you use. just the "stick" w/no processor is slow. the premiers etc...they work really well. i've got 4 of them and they work w/no issues.Having previously had PSVue prior to making the switch to YouTubeTV, I feel strongly YouTube is superior. The user interface is also much more akin to cable, therefore it is easier for the technology challenged individual. I also recommend running them through Apple TV vs Roku. Have both at my house and the Roku is inferior when it comes to streaming and clarity.
We get the local CBS, ABC, FOX, NBC plus SEC, ESPN, ESPN 2, FS1, FS2, Golf, etc with the standard subscription. Also, can have up to 5 different users on 1 account so therefore you could technically split it with friends of family for around $10/per person per month. Not bad for 50 channels.
YouTube TV FTW. Unlimited cloud storage based on programs you add to your library (so, if you choose UT Football, anytime it comes on any channel it will "record" it). We use a Roku to stream it...most of our TVs have the app, but it was buggy, particularly if we started watching something that was still in the process of recording.Thinking of cutting cable but obviously don't want to miss UT games. Is recording games possible with Roku or something else? What is my best option if all I'm concerned about for tv watching is college football and UT?
When you have a good TE, I just cannot fathom getting them the ball less than 5 times per game. It’s just free yardage most of the time and opens the offense up if the defense really decides to lock it down, you’ve created space elsewhere
Have you done this? We are letting our in-laws piggy-back off our account (we set them up as one of our 6 users), and many times we get a playback error stating that our account is being used in another location. We're all using the app on Roku's...not sure if that has anything to do with it?Having previously had PSVue prior to making the switch to YouTubeTV, I feel strongly YouTube is superior. yeah, you need a roku, google chrome, apple tv, or a firestick to stream content. think of those things as your new cable box.So sign up for YoutubeTV but also get a Roku to stream it?
I think it will work, and it probably isn't any different. When we signed up with YTTV last year, the Firestick didn't have the YTTV app, so we went with Roku. I just did a quick search and it looks like they've put it on the firestick now.If I already have an amazon firestick will that work also? Is Roku better? Different?
Yeah, for any channels that aren't on YTTV that have apps, we use a relative's Dish login information to access the content.yeah, you need a roku, google chrome, apple tv, or a firestick to stream content. think of those things as your new cable box.
they all function the same basic way, all have differences. do a little research and see what turns ya on.
as for the streaming services for your "tv" viewing...PSvue, you tube tv, hulu live, directtvnow and sling are the ones that are most popular. they all have the same basic price ranges, but differ slightly in content. the good news is you can do free trials for all of them and compare for a week.
then you can add a la carte viewing for whatever else might suit you. just be aware, not all streaming services are recognized as "cable/satelite providers" so when you download say the TNT app, it will ask you to log in thru your provider's credentials.
some of the streaming services aren't listed...so just something to be aware of (i use my brother's direct tv account log in lol).

Hmm, that's odd. We don't get the error a ton, but when we do it is persistent (get the error, go back to the station/program (which usually starts back where it cut off), watch for a little while, get the error again, rinse, repeat...). It happens with both live and recorded programming.Yes, we are currently doing so. Have it split with family members across the state of NC as well as at our local business and they work well. I will say I have seen the error message, but very seldom. All we had to do was go back and click on the station again and it worked fine.
I have a Roku in my bedroom and our outdoor TV on the screened in porch and they pale in comparison to Apple TV on my nice TV's. Maybe just be personal preference.
I'm not sure what that does, but YouTubeTV and PSVue have unlimited cloud DVR.I like a firestick because it is connected to my amazon account. The firestick that I have, Fire TV 4k has DVR storage on it.
Can you guys take this to the off topic please! You’re cluttering up this thread!I'm not sure what that does, but YouTubeTV and PSVue have unlimited cloud DVR.
@Ron Swanson As for devices, if you happen to be a gamer, Xbox has the YouTubeTV app and PS4, obviously, has the PSVue app. Both services can also be accessed via web browser and mobile app.
