Doesn't matter. Once we get Jarrett and Sewell, we'll jump back up.
I think most recruits are willing to "wait" and see how UT looks under Chaney in the first few months before ESD hits.
If we come out and throw up points and give Florida a real game I think pieces will start falling.
We're probably going to be late-risers in the team rankings. We're playing the long game with some elite players. Most of these guys want to see what Pruitt puts on the field this year and they want to watch how the staff uses certain position groups, especially since we have new coordinators. We're not going to load up with depth players when we're in a good spot with guys higher on our board.
Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney has been the most talked about addition to the Tennessee football program this offseason. There’s been plenty of talk about how much Chaney has helped Jeremy Pruitt as the head man heads into his second year.
Chaney’s personality oozes confidence. He never gets too emotionally high or low. After all, as he says it’s just ball.
The expectation for Chaney this fall is for the Vol offense to make huge strides after averaging just 22.8 points a game last season.
In his first season at his last four stops (Tennessee, Arkansas, Pittsburgh, Georgia), Chaney’s offense has averaged 25.6 points a game. They key to Chaney’s success has been about finding his playmakers and giving the quarterback the confidence to make plays. In his first year at Pitt, Nathan Peterman threw for 2,287 yards, 20 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. At Georgia, Jacob Eason threw for 2430 yards, 16 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 2016. In 2009, Jonathan Crompton threw for 2800 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions — success that Crompton said was built over the summer in his one on one time with Chaney.
Agree. Just happy to see more 4 stars than 3s. Not like the old days of being an early top 5 class with 17 commits, 14 3-stars and 3 4-stars and you just knew it was going to be a lost year in recruiting. Certainly don't get that feeling with this class. We will get quality guys regardless.
I lost mine...but I'm searching for it.For years, the media propped up bad Tennessee teams coached by guys who never should have trotted through the T. Now, the media is down on a Tennessee team that should be much improved with very good coaching. They're overcompensating.
Player ratings are like media opinions-- best taken with a whole shaker of salt.
I've told this story before, but I was fortunate enough to attend the 2016 game in Athens. We're sitting there as kickoff nears, taking in the atmosphere. Then, all of a sudden, almost the entire stadium, including grown-ass men, start barking like dogs. I was legit embarrassed for them.I'm so glad we don't have to say "pig sooie" or bark like a dog!
Do you really think we'll get Sewell or spitballing? A&M seems confident and has an official planned. Oregon has all the CBs. And Bama is in it. Feels like we are outside looking in.
At least distance can't go against us here. He ain't goin to Utah or BYU.
