The Atlanta Braves

Looking more and more like Kels was right and we’ll miss Scherzer.

All of our guys except Mike have the same problem. It’s an organizational thing

Add in Luiz Gohara’s off the field tragedies messing with his head and it’s a perfect storm. Who would have thought after we drafted 9,000,031 starting pitchers we’d be looking for pitching help?

As for Boyd:

Benji: How far off was Matt Boyd for an honorable mention? By your metrics, would his value match up with Kyle Tucker?

Kiley McDaniel: Tucker is a little steep. Not that the surplus values don’t line up but I don’t think Boyd is the level of guy that gets one of those elite prospects. I would shoot for more back end of a top 100 type and a couple more 45s/high 40s as a reasonable return.

That's something like Wilson plus 40/45 filler. I’m not a huge Boyd fan but I could definitely get on board with him at that price.

Status for Sunday still unclear
July 18, 2019
Manager Dave Martinez said Scherzer's (back) status for Sunday's start against the Braves is still undetermined, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

ANALYSIS
Scherzer threw from 90 feet again Thursday, though he didn't get off a mound as was hoped. Martinez noted afterwards that the right-hander is still at about 90 percent, and the Nationals won't give him the ball until he's 100 percent healthy. If Scherzer is unable to start Sunday, look for Austin Voth to get the ball in his place.
