All Thangs Pussum and Chad Thread

A rat runs down the alley
And a chill runs down your spine
And someone walks across your grave
And you wish the sun would shine

I always thought the bolded line was:
And someone wants to crush your brains

Cause no one's gonna warn you
And no one's gonna yell attack
And you don't feel the steel
Till it's hangin' out your back

Yep. Yankee brands, apparently. My work wife says those brands are sold up north. Aldi's, iirc, is a European owned grocer.
Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s were started (I think) a couple of generations ago by German cousins. One did TJ’s; one did Aldi’s.

I wouldn’t give you a nickel for my version of the family tree, but it was something like that.

Never heard of Aldi’s, been to Trader Joe’s countless times.

Don’t know if it was deliberate or coincidence, but Aldi’s seems big in the east, while TJ’s is just now (last five years or so) showing up in eastern cities other than Boston, etc.

Ours doesn’t carry the Sicilian chicken sausage. 1563050784203.gifI still don’t know if the Memphis store has opened. (TJ’s, not Aldi’s)

@Behr -- how would you cook the scallops ?

Pretty much any way is good. Im sure NorCal doesn't need my input, but how I would cook them would depend on what type of risotto I was having with them.

But my personal favorite way to prepare scallops is seared with a sauce I like to make or with sauce Newburg.

I love scallops any way. I just don't eat them often. Good ones are really expensive.

Thing I dont like about Aldi is they never have the advertised stuff in stock, and one week they have something and then never have it again.

Making a steak recipe I haven't made since around 2010. I have some ribeye caps marinating in teriyaki sauce (comes from my childhoold where I loved teriyaki marinated steaks). I just made a homemade "jerk" sauce (let the jokes fly) with red onion, parsley, a small scotch bonnet, 2 garlic cloves, clove, all-spice, cinnamon, green onions, canola oil, s&p. I'm going to pull the caps from the marinade and apply the jerk rub for about 15-20 minutes. Wipe off the rub and grill on hot for about 2.5 minutes on each side...these are thin (about 7 ounces each).

Serving with seared corn with cherry tomatoes and a balsamic glaze and sauteed green beans in bacon fat and chicken stock.
