Tankers Attacked In Gulf: Price of Oil Up

Why are the British engaged in piracy?

Seized Iran supertanker was loaded to capacity with crude oil: Gibraltar government - Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - Tests have shown an Iranian supertanker seized in Gibraltar last week was fully loaded with crude oil, the government of the British territory said on Monday.

British Royal Marines boarded the ship, Grace 1, off the coast of Gibraltar on Thursday and seized it over accusations it was breaking sanctions by taking oil to Syria.

Where is the outrage when it comes to the British violating international law and bottlenecking shipping lanes?

The Straits of Gibraltar is international waters. Actually, it could be viewed as an act of war when blockading a country’s right to free passage in international waters..

Just an unnecessary and dumb move by Britain.

Watch them counter with the Iranian ship came within the 12 nautical miles of Gibraltar as it passed through the straits...

You mean like Russia cutting off access to the Sea of Azov trade ports and taking captive Ukrainian sailors?

Five Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps gunboats tried to seize a British oil tanker in the Persian Gulf Wednesday but backed off after a British warship approached, a senior U.S. defense official told Fox News.

The British warship was said to have been less than 5 miles behind the tanker but soon intercepted the Iranian boats and threatened to open fire. A manned U.S. reconnaissance aircraft was above as well, the official said, adding that Iranian forces left without opening fire.

Navy Captain Bill Urban, spokesman for the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), said the military was aware of the reported actions. He added, “Threats to international freedom of navigation require an international solution. The world economy depends on the free flow of commerce, and it is incumbent on all nations to protect and preserve this lynchpin of global prosperity.”

The British frigate was identified as the HMS Monstrose, according to CNN, which was first to report the encounter.

Big difference in Ukrainian gunboats entering the Kerch Strait(Russian territorial waters) without permission and an Iranian cargo vessel being seized in international waters...

The Kerch Strait connects Crimea(Russia) and mainland Russia...just as the new Crimean bridge built by Russia...RUSSIAN territorial waters.

Ukraine has access to the Sea of Azov via its ports on the sea or via the Kerch Strait....the latter access, granted or denied by Russia.

Lol. That's not how access works. You cant cut people off. Look at Turkey. If you have a port in that sea you have unlimited access traverse those waters. Imagine Denmark or Sweden closing off the Baltic.

And considering since Russia’s strangle hold on the Kerch Straight came at the point of a rifle followed by rigged elections... double yep!!

Sure they can when protocol isn’t followed...

Come strutting through provocatively, without announcing intentions, and this will happen every time.

They have just as much claim as Russia to those waters. You dont knock before entering your own home.

They have claim to the Azov Sea. They have claim to and through the Kerch Strait, when identifications and intentions are announced. Ukraine doesn’t border the Kerch Strait anymore...Russia owns the back door now....and knocks are required.
