Hank. Hate to tell you this but America is the Gold Standard in women's soccer. They've been playing extremely sloppy and are still beating the "stars over seas"
1. You’re expecting American players to be on par with the level of stars over seas. It’s not even the same game they play.
2. You obviously have unrealistic expectations out of the women’s game in general. They are down to the best teams and players in the world and still isn’t cutting with you. Do you watch the lady vols and wonder why they aren’t playing above the rim?
they are the best in the world at a minor league genre. That’s the point... they are the best in the world, literally, and yet people are unhappy.
They are expecting men’s champions league level excitement and skill out of something that simply can’t give them that.
To your first point, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. US womens team IS the lady Vols of soccer. It is the final four teams. YES I expect them to play fundamental, smart soccer at that level. The game is no different for women than it is for men. Power and speed are different but not the rules, the dimensions, the fundamentals, etc. I'm not complaining about the speed and power. I'm taking issue with the bad fundamentals, the sloppy touches and lack of balance. That was an ungraceful display yesterday and that's the top four? yeesh.
To your second point about the lady Vols, the team when Pat was with us was fundamentally sound. Why do you view women as intellectually less capable?
We got the four best applebees steaks and it still isnt good enough at ruth Chris.
I am not sure how your are arguing about the entertainment value of the Women's World Cup when you have a baseball player as an avatar. That is literally the most boring spectator sport on the planet. I think there is more action in professional miniature golf.
Phil Steele has developed his own method for measuring the experience level of FBS teams. It includes things such as returning yards, returning tackles, offensive line starts, and the class makeup of the projected 2-deep. This analysis does not include an assessment of talent. Anyway, last year to start the season he had us ranked #87 most experienced in the nation and #12 in the SEC. This year he has us ranked #21 in the nation and #2 most experienced in the SEC behind only LSU.
This table has all the SEC teams plus our P5 OOC opponents for '18 & '19 and is sorted on the change in Steele's national ranking for experience from last year to this year.
