So, just after posting Burns was a good get, u follow that up with Bilau is more physically ready than Burns, despite Burns having a full year in a college weight program. Really no way to know until they play next year, I guess. But, I disagree. Plus nobody has signed yet in the '20 class any where, which includes blue bloods like Duke and Kentucky, because they can't yet. Unless, the wheels completely fall off, the '20 class WILL have Walker, Keon and at least a top 50 PG and probably another top 50 big man, PJ Hall, imo. The '20 recruiting class will be the greatest in Tennessee history, mark it down, save this post, whatever, I'm guaranteeing it
How many spots did we have in Burns class? DAHe had to dig out a reclassification with Burns. clever, but only because he blanked on true seniors.
Pons? He was a decent prospect but if you think that established that class as good, you’re crazy.
He absolutely took two years off. If Burns and Pons are your examples then your only making his case.
It was kinda split, many saying they needed to see it...but as far as projections by both media and analytics, it was similar to this upcoming season in that nobody had us dancing.Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly but I believe most people on the board felt UT was a tourney team going into the 17-18 season and we thought it was insane they were preseason 13th in the SEC. That team also returned like their top 8/10 contributors
It’s strange you don’t post this much when we are winning 25 games?Yup. Putting your eggs in that basket isn’t wise.
Barnes better hope Turner and Bowden can rise to a new level.
This team is woefully thin at guard and HUGE questions in the post.
Transfer that may or may not be eligible.
A player who was supposedly going to be pushed out and has failed 100 drug tests.
And, Fulk.
Best two year run in the regular season only. And this roster is simply not that good. Two transfers, one ineligible and the other who knows. We do know that his prior team made no effort to keep Plav even thought they were woefully thin in the front court. But the truth about the good, the bad and the ugly of this roster will be on full display soon enough. Here's to hoping that Pruitt can get the Vols to 8 regular season wins.
Has anyone ever considered that maybe Barnes just got lucky with the roster he’s had the last few years? We know from his time at Texas that he generally didn’t build his roster that way.
The whole "Barnes took 2 years off in recruiting" is the dumbest thing I've continually heard this off season. And, no surprise, it was Basillio that started it.
Well, jury is still out on 2/4 guys in that class...I get everyone wants guys to come in and be All-SEC the day they step on campus, but that’s not always the case and doesn’t automatically mean a player is a bust.I don't blame him at all for the 18' cycle and only taking Burns. In retrospect that was a solid move. However, that 17' class was dreadful.

One thing about it, they have to be pretty tough to stay with Barnes multiple seasons. Why I think Johnson will have a surprise season. came in too weak to play on the college level and followed that with an injury, but stuck with it. Make no mistake, Barnes is a hard coach. We've seen the guys who said Uncle, No mas and moved on. Pons is an upperclassmen which adds some stability. Kent will be interesting.I feel pretty confident in saying that I don't believe Pons is ever putting it together. He's getting by solely on his athleticism. I'm still in wait and see on Kent because of the injuries. But how often have you seen a guy miss two entire seasons due to injury and come back and become an impact player?
I just don't get the idea that you have to have 3 guys that can put up mucho points. You're much better off to have 5 guys that score in double figures and then a deeper bench of 4 guys to make up the difference. VA and TT showed you can win a lot of games scoring 70 a game. Do need to step it up on D, which I'm more concerned about in the up coming. We will struggle to score next year unless 3 or 4 guys step up in a huge way. Teams will take away our two scorers (neither can really create their own shot) and make the others beat us. Who has confidence that the rest of the team can carry us? Barnes gets to earn his money next year. Hope I am wrong.
