What bothers me is that you completely avoided the things I mentioned. Student athletes especially those in the major money making sports (Football & Men's Basketball) are supplied with a lot of goods & services that aren't exactly free, yet no one seems to ever acknowledge these things when discussing them not getting paid. That is very much a source of payment, insurance premiums paid by the university, room, board, food, clothing, stipends, training, gym access, tutors, tuition, books, travel...all those things cost money and are given to these players freely for their service. But it's forgotten whenever this argument comes up "pay the athletes"

I agree pay them! And charge them for all these services they originally received freely.
I ignored them because I agreed. You asked why I said they should strike. They should strike because they aren’t allowed to profit off their image. Something something free market

The access to tutors on all levels of NCAA sports makes it almost impossible for players to fail in school. I am not talking about cheating. Schools invest millions to insure athletes stay in school and graduate. Many are leaving with multiple degrees. All free

Yeah, I mean the student loan debt for the majority of the student-athletes would essentially ruin them financially past college. It's a very select few (by %) that "make it" as professional athletes.

I mean I think if a student athlete wants to make some pocket money by showing up at a car lot or event then let them. It's the car lot paying for their appearance. But I really don't think the schools should be footing additional funds towards student athletes. It's a huge can of worms, and most involved in the big movement seem to only see the main money sports. They forget the swimmers, the golfers, the tennis players, the soccer players, the softball, track & field all those other student athletes that would then be pulling in money.

"Only pay the student athletes that are playing sports that make money" well that right there completely eliminates women's sports as we know it, and sets us further back imo. Cause if the schools have to pay all their student athletes in addition to what's already being offered then they'll cut based on profit and now we're no different than professional sports and what's the point of colleges having sports at all?

Fair point, agreed there. That article though was opening up a completely different debate. I just hate seeing things like "NCAA MAKES BILLIONS, ATHLETES GET NOTHING!" Nothing is a very broad term...and doesn't apply when I think of all the things they aren't paying for...

I worked in a basketball program for a season even at lowly TTU the guys had plenty, stipends afforded them the ability to even have spending money for video games & clothing. All while never having to pay a single bill for their apartments or wonder where their next meal would come from.

Dang. I just caught up from last night.

At first, Bass had me like...

Then Price had me all...

All in a matter of 5 minutes.

Stay you, VN!
