BBQ sauce isn't a condiment when you are using it as part of cooking. It's an ingredient.

I guess if you dump a half bottle on ribs sitting on a plate on the table as if it were ketchup, it's a condiment, but that's not the way to use BBQ sauce IMUO. (in my uppity opinion)
I agree...but I was talking in means of throwing BBQ sauce on the pork and a lot of times it is thrown on top of the ribs after smoking. Just not necessary if the meat is cooked properly IMUO.

It's not always about being necessary. I like a good BBQ sauce and ribs are a good vessel to eat BBQ sauce. I like hot clarified butter, but not by itself, so I sometimes dip king crab meat, shrimp or grilled fish in it. I like horseradish and horseradish sauce on prime rib. None of that is necessary.

True, but since I started watching my calories last year to lose weight, I've learned to appreciate fruits, veggies, meats, without the extras. Not always easy when, yes ranch can be great, but something I'm okay cutting out.
