It definitely would be an odd choice, but seems like the leader in the clubhouse at the moment. If the reports from weeks back were right and he wanted to go somewhere he could make both a deep tournament run and develop into an NBA 1st Rounder, then I'm not sure VT with a new coaching staff and young team really hits either of those marks. Would be a strange decision.

I'm no VT apologist, but they had a couple key guys return (Nolley and Bede, who were both four star prospects out of high school), plus added Cone to help run the show. Keeping Blackshear gives them a pretty solid starting five. Depth is obviously a concern. I think they would definitely be a threat to make the NCAA tourney if they keep Blackshear though.

The longer it goes on the worse it is for Tennessee imo. I thought he would choose Tennessee Sunday but now things are much more murky.

That's not exactly true. If this was VT with Buzz Williams, the VT who last year had 2-3 NBA players on their team, etc. then it's an entirely different story. I don't think anyone would dispute the fact that VT with Buzz in the ACC is an attractive landing spot, maybe much more so than TN. It's just interesting to see him go through this brand new recruitment process only to return to a new coaching staff & young roster over a team like UK.

VT even with Buzz is NOT as attractive at UT. Barnes is better coach, Knoxville way better than Blacksburg, our facilities are better, and arena comparison isn't even close.

Isnt this what most stars do for their teams? Should Calhoun or Ollie get discredited because Kemba and Boatwright went crazy in the ncaat?

Do the years where Cal was winning with mediocre programs get forgotten? He is a good coach. But obviously having an AD helps.

He hasn’t had mediocre talent since Marcus Camby signed on at UMass.
