Not sure where I read it but it was mentioned he had the slowest times in the NBA combine for bigs in many of the running drills, that is something Tennessee keyed on and that strength coach GM talked a lot about on his visit as something they would be working on.

Ok that second point is a development factor. What this writer is saying is that it's not a winning argument. That appears wrong to me.

That's meaningless. And if all that matters is moving the needle, then there are a million schools he could choose. He would make UK a F4 caliber team. Not so for Vols

You might be selling this guy short. He might realize that experienced guard play is huge for a deep run. That last tweet seems to be suggesting that’s a factor

Sure if that get him they are better. Don’t think anyone is saying otherwise but the discussion is where should he go and how does that effect the forecast for those teams

I think without him they’re probably a Top 10 team and Tennessee is maybe Top 30

I think with him UK is probably Top 5-6 and Tennessee a Top 10-15

Is there a huge difference between 5-6 and 10-15? That’s the question, my guess is historically no, there’s probably not.

He’s referring to skill set development, such as improving his outside shot...he doesn’t feel that he’s gonna make big strides there, but that athletically he can.

Yes you can consider that part of his game in the broad sense, but the writer wasn’t.

Rankings I agree but those are meaningless. I’ll take our team over theirs if we get him.

Even if he goes to Kentucky we beat Kentucky’s ass this year

I agree, but from an unbiased view like the Blackshear’s I’m sure they pay some attention to those rankings.

Yes I would consider that development. That’s why that comment didn’t make sense to me. Someone who withdrew from the NBA draft to return to college has something to gain. If it’s just about wins, I think UK would be an easy choice. But UT easily offers the best combination of quality, fit, and development.

But it is arguable that UK is a F4 caliber team without him, too. As I said last week, he makes Tennessee a top-20 team, and inside the top 20, it's a crapshoot. With some good fortune, a top-20 Tennessee could make a run at a F4.
