REALISTICALLY: who would be your choice to replace Fulmer?

yeah, ECU proved their strength. So did USF.

Spurrier's rule is long gone. If he can't pull the recruits out of SC, what makes you think he can go get people to come to Tennessee?

So you said no to Kiffin, but you are thrilled with some guy whose claim to fame was three fluke plays in a BCS game?

I'm not the one that said no to Kiffin, I listed him as my #1 choice, read my first post on this thread hoss

Hawkins built that program from the ground up. It is his baby. Peterson is merely sustaining his success.

But you don't think he's good enough to build success here?
Peterson hasn't built anything. Hawkins did the majority of the work at that job. It's a lot easier to sale a kid to play for a team that is at the top of the Non-BCS crowd than it is to sale a kid to play for just another garbage football team.

It's hard to win consistently with sub-par talent in C-USA and the Big East. Leavitt has built the USF program from nothing to a top 25 team. and by nothing, i mean they didn't have a football program until 15 years ago. ECU has gotten better under Skip since he took the helm. No doubt if he had better talent to coach, he could really build a great team.

And take a look at S-Car athletics. They don't have the facilities that we have here, they don't have the fan base, they don't have the big donors to help upgrade their stadium. Not to mention, SC isn't crawling with talent to begin with. But who would want to go to an SEC program that has poor quality facilities, a less than stellar fan base, and a program that doesn't put much of an emphasis on winning? UTK is light years ahead of S-Car in all of those categories. My guess is they banked on the Ol' Ball Coach to be enough of a draw to recruit, neglecting the things that 18 year old football players want.

Dale Jones.

Former UT linebacker who played on Ken Donahue's attack style defense (Think 1986 Sugar Bowl vs Miami).

He young, full of fire, and a true son of the Big Orange Nation. He's untested, but all coaches are at one time in their careers.

Dale Jones untested is a bit of an understatement.

There is very litte about this post that is accurate.

We'll start with Leavitt. The Big East is dreadful and i mean Awful dreadful. USF beat Auburn and WVU, big deal. They also lost to Rutgers, Uconn, Cincy and then got absolutely obliterated by Oregon that was missing Dennis Dixon. I don't want anybody that can't beat a Dave Wannstedt team.

Now let's move to Skippy. Just because ECU has gotten marginally better, doesn't mean he's the answer. VT is only as good as Tyrod Taylor can make them. Having him "redshirted" for the game and starting Glennon spelled more doom for VT than anything ECU did. Losses to NC St and Houston have shown was ECU really is all about.

And finally let's move to South Carolina and Spurrier. The fans in SC are absolutely crazy. The state itself has a lot of in state talent, far more than Tennessee. Spurrier is more concerned with getting his golf game back at or below scratch level than he is about traveling the country trying to bring in the best recruits possible. Steve Spurrier would have been the answer 8 years ago. He's not the answer now.

The Carroll record has merit. From what I understand, most NFL people not named Al Davis had a great respect for what Kiffin was getting done in Oakland before he got ousted.

Oakland was flat terrible and a 5-15 record there would be like taking a 1 win team in college and flipping it to six or seven wins very, very quickly.

All those guys are head coaches or actually are coordinating a BCS offensive/ defensive unit.

I mean, what is Jones a LB coach at Appy State? Come on man, you can't be serious.

No one was born a HC. Yes, I'm serious.

Fulmer was never a HC until UT named him. He was the OC under Johnny Majors....what exactly does that say about his previous experience....NOT MUCH!
