This is probably not the place to have this convo. Especially getting offended over such things as Christianity... we will know one day until we should work on loving each other... however I appreciate your passion for the subject.I should clarify. I meant Bible reading, doctrinally sound Christians. Scripturally based theology not feelings theology.
Couldn’t agree more. In fact, I think it’s somewhat counterproductive for me personally. A lot of times feels like a “going through the motions” exercise to appease those who keep track of such things.Outside of some community affinity or the education (some have other words/views for this) gained by a church experience, it really is by no means necessary. Most throughout history did without official service or commune. One only needs himself and some peace and quiet to find that something else.
I also agree that many people don’t read their bible, I think many people that claim Christianity aren't actually Christians. However to loop or group a whole base people together is dangerous when you don’t have any contact with those people... that’s called biblical sin. Just because someone has a different interpretation of the Bible doesn’t make the a bad person instead of get offended at them, and label them and stick them in a corner... you should hurt for them because (to you by your own estimation) they are misinformed and that will only lead them down a road of pain...Sure it was. It’s why the Catholic Church reigned for so long. Then the printing press comes along, people start reading it for themselves, and they collectively say, “Hey, wait a sec.”
That’s why it’s so surprising to see these almost cult like groups gain strong footholds in Christianity. People aren’t reading their Bibles anymore, they’re content with someone just preaching the pseudo word.
@HoleInTheRoof does your VQ name start with a m?
Hillsong and Bethel are part of the New Apostolic Reformation. If your wife keeps talking about them just mention you saw some YouTube videos where the majority of Christians refer to them as supporting unbiblical teachings.
Bethel as in Redding, California?
“Majority” is as inaccurate as the “I saw it on the internet so it must be true” statement. Most I have spoken to, who share these views are Cessationist believers who believe in the logos, but deny the rhema thereof.

I wasn’t trying to be volatile
Not really you. Anyone who posted anything has good intentions, but I wouldn’t touch any of this with a ten foot pole in a public forum. It’s going to be one mountain top shouting to the other. Much better discussed in the context of community in the valley, IMO.
I had just responded to your post earlier before reading through what was following
@nicksjuzunk How do you feel about pre-destination?
