The team Tennessee fielded in 2016 that shouldn't have ended anything worse than 10-2 and a Sugar Bowl appearance. The 6-0 start and preseason optimism had everything to do with the way Butch recruited in those previous cycles. And I can't stand the guy. Although, people try to discredit him in order to justify Pruitt and his staff shortcomings.
so, after year one, step one of cleaning up the mess the intern left us in, what short comings have you determined there to be specifically related to pruitt and this staff?

lol.

You did a fine job of discrediting him yourself. He recruited reasonably well, but couldn't develop talent or coach. Butch Jones left Pruitt a bunch of rusted Toyota and Honda parts lying around, and you want Pruitt to build a Maserati.

I don't disagree. Things really got ugly his last few years. And he recruited really poorly in the 17' which certainly didn't help. But those 15' and 16' rosters had a ton of talent and it wasn't because of Derek Dooley.

Answer honestly: Without Dobbs, what would it have been? He was Jones' biggest accomplishment and one of the few.

You can't pretend it was some great execution. He saved us by running for his freaking life and being good at it. Without that, 2016 would have been waaaaay different.

You act like I think Pruitt and his staff have done an overall bad job. There have been shortcomings. But the entire body of work has been good. I'm just mad about the start to this recruiting cycle, is it that hard to accept?

Obviously things would've been a lot different without Dobbs, no question. But Hurd, Kamara, Malone, Jennings, Pig Howard, Marquez North, Von Pearson. Dobbs wasn't the ONLY reason that offense was dynamic. He was just the catalyst.

Lol if he was the catalyst then he would be the only reason. All the other parts were there but without him nothing would have happened. Hence why butch won 1 SEC game without him

it's not a matter of me accepting it or not.

it's no more about me accepting it, as it is about me justifying these shortcomings you speak of?

how is it a shortcoming in recruiting of the current class that won't sign until December and February....before it's a finished product?

that's not a shortcoming related to this staff. that's your anxiety level because of how you let yourself perceive things.

and i don't have an issue with that lol.

And that's out of how many players during his time here?

Like I said, people can name the exceptions to make it appear better but they were exceptions. Even with the high numbers and the legacies.
And how many left? Kicked out? Had their offers pulled after making us feel good in June?

You can have Jones' tactics, I prefer this way.

Literally all of the guys I mentioned with Dobbs were gone by that time except Jennings who was injured that entire season. I'm not discrediting Dobbs at all. He was extremely underappreciated.

Are merit badges awarded for being rainbows and butterflies all the time?

Recruiting sucks right now and we have zero momentum, but anytime anyone complains about it... it's like a bat signal to a handful of posters to don their capes and leotards and show what better fans they are.
Recruiting doesn't suck right now. The number of commitments we have sucks especially since some we were in the top 2 or 3 choose somewhere else. We don't have any momentum because most of the ones that we lead for are wanting to see if we are going to play like we did against WV or Auburn. Complaining about that isn't going to change the situation or stop people from responding to your opinion that we are doomed with their opinion that it's too early to determine the doomation of Volnation because we don't yet know how T19 will play.

Cam Sutton, Derek Barnett, Jalen Hurd, JRM, Josh Malone...I tend to agree that Butch did bring in talent until the "new" of his cliche wore off and kids were over it.

There was indeed a majority of our signees that didn't have offers from top SEC schools. People can pull up the exceptions but they were the exceptions!

Several didn't even have offers from their home state schools. No one can rewrite reality, it can be twisted but not changed.

You are literally rewriting reality right now. The ‘14, ‘15, and ‘16 classes were full of guys with major program offers.
