Blue chippers all going elsewhere.

We’re gonna have to talk up lower ranked kids and hype everyone up as “didn’t camp” or “diamond in the rough”. Go ahead and copy and paste “Roman Harrison!!!” because some of you will cite that example endlessly all offseason.
This was point not long back and everyone seemed to be hating on me. Lol at least I'm not the only one with this mind set.

Love how many posters brag that they're the only ones who makes points like this every year, and that everyone hates on you for it. You were never the only one with that mindset. There's no special merit badge you get for it. There are a lot of posters repeating the mantra in every thread on the board. Also funny how things like this are said with the expectation that nobody should respond with counter arguments lest the mindset feel attacked.

Are merit badges awarded for being rainbows and butterflies all the time?

Recruiting sucks right now and we have zero momentum, but anytime anyone complains about it... it's like a bat signal to a handful of posters to don their capes and leotards and show what better fans they are.

Yep. Obviously there are guys so good that we’d take them regardless, but Pruitt has doubled down on the “camp tells the story” line of recruiting evaluation.

We’re at a point where we can be a little bit more selective than maybe we thought we would be. Good times ahead.

The Tennessee brand carries any recruiting momentum you need. It’s up to the coach to utilize and promote it. The “all ball” approach is fine when you’re established but you have to be more creative and quite honestly (and i know we hate the term *thanks butch* but more of a salesman) to get kids to come here when everyone is ragging on you in recruiting and giving them a million reasons to go elsewhere. But as long as we stay around 15 or better like last year, Pruitt will have enough talent to be very successful.

A halfway decent season this year and that trip to Oklahoma will be the premier matchup and have playoff implications.

Hell when we’re just pretty good under butch those two years every other game of ours was on game day. Tennessee create its on buzz with or without merit.

Well Hank, I'm stealing this from the VQ guys but I'll add this about Butch.
"There was a lot less angst when he was filling the class with paper 4 stars".
Now that we're going after players that teams actually want, we are going to lose on a lot of them.

I just have to decide which I prefer, listening to posters whine when they realize many of BJ's guys weren't SEC caliber.. or listening to the same posters fret about the reality of going after true talent.

Think I prefer getting some real players but it does suck that some are going to act surprised after every.. single.. miss.

I wonder if coach Pruitt and his staff are all doom and gloom?

Not sure if you know what I’m referencing. It wasn’t whether he was a first round pick...it was him PLAYING FOOTBALL. Earlier in this thread I discussed the wisdom of recruiting a baseball prospect who would never set foot on a college football field. I cited Kyler Murray, who was a sure fire first rounder out of high school but WANTED to play football. This was before the Heisman fwiw. Was countered plenty heavily that this wasn’t the same situation. Now it seems I was wrong about it being a wasted recruitment because he never wavered from LSU.

You're free to freak out any time you want. I am just not sure why you think some people should not disagree with your opinion.
