Devil’s advocate. Why do we need 2 this class, which would give us 5 scholarship QBs in the room next year, which all but guarantees that at least 1 QB leaves and then we’re back down to 4 scholarship QBs anyway?Don't care. We need 2 QB's this class, the staff is going to take 2 QB's this class. Accept it or move on.
I don't think we need 2 in the class but if it's these 2 I'm cool with it.Devil’s advocate. Why do we need 2 this class, which would give us 5 scholarship QBs in the room next year, which all but guarantees that at least 1 QB leaves and then we’re back down to 4 scholarship QBs anyway?
Not at all saying I wouldn’t love to have a talent like King in the roster, this isn’t even about King. It’s philosophical, especially since the college QB position is unlike any other.
It's not my opinion we take 2 QB's. That's what the staff wants per 247 and VQ. I guess maybe they're lying.
Maybe they’re guessing? You’ve suggested as much with VQ. As for the QB’s? Their ACCEPTANCE would bear considerable more weight and is more delicate. We can handle “take it or leave it”...they don’t have to.It's not my opinion we take 2 QB's. That's what the staff wants per 247 and VQ. I guess maybe they're lying.
And I'm not saying you or any other poster needs to accept this. I'm saying the QB's in this class do.
If Ron’s assertion is that we “need” two QB’s due to Shrout and Maurer transferring because of Bailey? I call bull. Presently they know he’s on board, shows up next season and most likely redshirts. One season more for them to back up JG and gain experience for the real competition the following Fall...injuries and all other unforeseen contingencies accounted for. TWO alpha face of the program QB’s and they have to consider the tick ticking eligibility clock. So consider this hypothetical. We land both? Both Shrout and Maurer transfer, you have two true freshmen fighting for the top backup spot, maybe you float it where both play four games and maintain a redshirt. More likely one emerges and logs more time and after one season, JG graduates and the other transfers. THEN we’re under pressure to sign THREE (i.e NEED) because our depth is critical mass and our starter is not fully developed. Worst case but entirely plausible...when we’re talking NEED.Devil’s advocate. Bingo. Couldn’t agree more.If Ron’s assertion is that we “need” two QB’s due to Shrout and Maurer transferring because of Bailey? I call bull. If you can sign a top tier QB, you do. If you can sign two, you do. Competition breeds excellence. If you have 4-5 QB's and 1-2 transfer, oh well, recruit more QB's in the next class. Doesn't hurt Clemson, Bama and UGA when they do just that. Why can't we?
Jim Chaney is now in charge of the offense. Did he recruit any of our current QB's on the roster? Did he recruit Bailey to UGA? Maybe Jim wants King more than any other QB we have. Maybe he wants Baily and King. The fact he started following multiple QB's in the 2020 class on twitter the week he was hired is a pretty good indication he's QB hunting.
Well he did a bang up job piling up QB talent at UGA. Look at em! 3 deep with Fromm, Eason and Fields! Depthy effin depth! Dead on with Clemson too with Lawrence and Hunter Johnson on that deep QB roster! Who cares if Trevor gets hurt? 14 more where he came from!If you can sign a top tier QB, you do. That's right, they had depth loaded with 4 and 5 star guys. A couple leave here and there, that's the game. Guess what? Clemson is about to sign the #1 overall QB in 2020, just like they did in 2018 with Lawrence. And they have their sights set on Vandagriff, likely the #1 QB in 2021 class. They bring in stud after stud, some guys leave after competition happens, but guess what? They win. I want to win. Bring on Bailey and King and let's win.Well he did a bang up job piling up QB talent at UGA. Look at em! 3 deep with Fromm, Eason and Fields! Depthy effin depth! In 2020...yeah. So that’s two seasons between signing Lawrence and NO ONE ELSE. How does that jibe with MUST SIGN TWO mantra? No one else does so we have to do it more. That's right, they had depth loaded with 4 and 5 star guys. A couple leave here and there, that's the game. Guess what? No, actually they signed another top QB in 2019...In 2020...yeah. So that’s two seasons between signing Lawrence and NO ONE ELSE. How does that jibe with MUST SIGN TWO mantra? No one else does so we have to do it more.

Great teams are stockpiling elite QB's, at least 1 a year. Tennessee is playing catch up and has a new OC in charge who didn't recruit most or all of the guys we have. Not sure why its so difficult for you to understand that maybe Chaney wants two good QB's in 2020 and the reasons why that is a smart move.
