As the spouse of an elementary principal, I completely agree. My wife is handling things (mostly for staff) from the time she wakes up until she falls asleep. But, it truly is her calling...she's happier in this position than any other she's ever had.

Since you are the husband of an elementary school principal, I assume you're going to answer me in the affirmative. But.

Do you think your spouse has a good relationship with (her?) faculty and staff? I ask because we've been through three principals between two schools so far with my kids, and we have yet to have a good principal. And it's only getting worse. Thankfully, my kids don't have much in the way of direct dealings with them, and they are at least generally nice to the students (that I've seen), but the morale of the teachers in both schools is abysmal, and it's only getting worse. Good teachers are leaving, and that trend is picking up steam. It's to the point where I wonder if there are any good principals out there.

I know I'm working with a small sample size, but it's pretty disconcerting. How does your (wife?) feel about her fellow principals? Teachers and spouses of teachers, how do you view your principals? (sorry for this sidecar post, everybody.)

They mistook it for Ovaltine

Little Orphan Annie, a.k.a. Nick Saban, used that secret decoder ring to get them banned.

Basilio loves to stir the pot. I've stopped listening to him over the last 2-3 weeks. He's ridiculous. He may be right about a few things, but he's wrong much more of the time.

And no, I don't listen to state run, either. Their lineup is pretty much garbage. It's mostly just Swain of local radio I listen to now.

Let's be real honest for a moment...

If we're 8-3 going into Vandy game, at home with them having won 3 straight...I honestly would be SHOCKED if the team lost that game.
agreed. would love to find out....i'd be good with headed in to that game 7-4 lol.

I think so. She was a principal for four years and left the position for a central-level job (and hated it). Whenever we'd see a teacher that had worked for her, they'd beg her to come back and told her that if she ever got another principal position they'd do anything possible to get to her school.

The most amazing thing to me is that she handles discipline quick and decisively. She follows all the formal steps (verbal warning, written warning, corrective action plan, etc.) and, accordingly, when she has to "non-renew" a teacher they almost always accept it very well (they know that they didn't do what they needed to do to prevent it). Astonishingly, a pretty good number of them react to their non-renewals with apologies for not meeting her expectations and/or making the corrections that she laid out for them.
