I bet he starts crompton too. We need to get the democrats to investigate CPF's family tree, see if these two are any kin.I bet Fulmer starts Crompton again Saturday. I will be surprised if he don't. He will start and Stephens will probably come in for a few series. Crompton is Fulmer's boy and he is determined to let him start because the poor baby waited 3 seasons for his chance. Bless his little heart.
Makes me wanna puke! :yuck:
Yep.
The DL has been pretty solid, Williams looks to be a very good DT. The pass rush is lacking but Martin and Walker have been getting more and more playing time.
The secondary has played well.
The running game has showed life at times.
There's really nothing to complain about other than QB play
Thanks for the info.
Why do you think Fulmer refused to recognize the problem with Crompton and try the other one?
Fulmer is a disaster in every way. The other coaches surely know it, the team knows it, the fans know. Only he doesn't know it. He needs to step down. He does not know how to make smart decisions that help win football games.
I think it's actually pretty simple. Phil Fulmer is a good person who is loyal to his players---to a fault.
He recruited Crompton as a top-five or so high school QB and he almost certainly made promises about future opportunities to start for the Vols to the young man and his family. Crompton came to UT, patiently waited his turn and finally got to "his time". In my opinion, Crompton earned the opportunity to start this year.
Unfortunately, however, just being an excellent athlete, a good kid, just knowing what to say to sound "correct" in pre and post game interviews and just practicing and trying hard do not always translate into being a good player on the field. Mr. Crompton looks like a lost ball in tall weeds in game situations. He has had a more than fair opportunity to take over this team and it hasn't even come close to happening. While it is sad, he does not appear to be panning out as a SEC quality QB and it is time for the Coach to stop being stubbornly loyal to the player and allow his Offensive Coordinator to try someone else.
Maybe the QB cupboard is bare at UT, but I bet not. I don't remember Darryl Dickey or Andy Kelly or Rick Clausen being highly thought of before they hit the field, but they knew how to maximize their abilities and they understood how to manage and move the team. My guess is Stevens or Coleman might as well.
If he---Coach Fulmer---keeps this up, he's going to "stubborn" himself out of a job.

I posted that Clawson looked lost in the UCLA game. I would like to retract that statement. After watching his reaction during the Auburn game, I now believe that he was in utter shock watching his qb play.
I just hope we don't lose Clawson if we get a new coach. I would love to see his offense clicking and running wide open.
It was Foolmer who kept trying to play Ainge in '05 when clearly Rick Clausen was the team leader, and a much better q-back that year.........I believe if Foolmer had left clausen alone, and put the best receivers on the field (Meachem, etc.), UT would have won 9-10 games as usual........When u don't put the best players on the field, it screws up the team..........If this story is true, it's more proof that Foolmer plays his "teacher's pets" above the best talents..........Like Nevin Mckenzie, get that boy on the FRIGGIN Field, son.......
we all seen 05 when we couldnt stick with one guy. dave clawson is the QB coach as well as o coordinator. It is up to him who starts. crompton has definately played his way into this controversy. this is not about fulmer at all. he has let clawson do what he wants to do and run the offense how he sees fit. crompton today is still the best qb that we have on the roster, maybe stephens gets his chance and shines. i do not want to see rotating quaterbacks, thats good for nobody. i would love to see crompton work his way out of this and be a composed, fairly accurate quaterback to lead this team for the next year and a half. He does have the talent, maybe not the brains, to be a quality qb capable of winning a couple games. anybody can beat anybody this year in the sec with at least an average qb. i would start crompton and give him the first half, if hes not efficiant, hes done for the season. bring stephens in the second half and tell him it is his team for the rest of the year.
by the way, both fulmer and clawson were gonna take crompton out against auburn, then crompton converts the third and long and shows a lil bit of toughness and leadership. Clawson then decides to stick with him hoping it will give the o a lil boost. Dave Clawson is the one who decides the starting qb. fulmer can override that if he wants too, but has been very willing to let clawson run the show.
