You always make my Byron Top88 posters list every December. To be honest, I dont really care about recruiting anymore. With two kids and having to take care of my mother in law since I was 25, i just dont care lol. I stick around for yall. Yall are like the dysfunctional side of the family that I wouldn't trade anything for. The "That's family" type of crew.
Even if I'm always forgotten about in superlatives
...you bastards.
I think the biggest issue is that we won’t shell out the money (that way easily have) for a proven high level head coach. Basically like texas AM did.
I guess it's better than them beating their husbands? You keep stating it over and over, and they still not getting it and not understanding recruiting. I’m starting to believe some of them really believe, all the commitments a school gets, through out the year, much less 9 months out, are actually going to be signed on early signing and February signing. Almost fun watching the hand wringing and foot stomping.
If he wins 8+ this fall I bet he gets a big fat raise and extension.
Limited agreement. It's always stated like we make insulting offers to proven coaches. The offers reported have always been legitimate market value and definitive raises for said coaches.I think the biggest issue is that we won’t shell out the money (that way easily have) for a proven high level head coach. I think it’s one of those things that is like why keep trying to find a hidden gem for a few million less when you could spend a few extra million up front where you’re not guaranteed by no means but more likely to get success.I agree. It’s happened three times now though. Why should we think it’ll be any different the fourth time when apathy will be even greater?
There really aren’t that many proven college HC’s out there regardless of $$$. Saban, Dabo, Fisher, Carroll, none of these guys are leaving their respective spots, and guys like Meyer and Spurrier aren’t coming out of retirement. Who does that leave? Maybe Chris Petersen, which is who I wanted them to back the Brinks truck up for in 2008, but I honestly can’t think of anyone else that would fit the bill.

What A&M and Michigan did was unheard of and everyone could be accused of going cheap in comparison. With results still pending.
Head in the sand? My, my, my...we are breaking all of the terms out of the negavol/troll handbook. Sweet!!Again, you must have your head in the sand. Tennessee is losing 4, possibly 5 WRs. Three of which are the best receivers on the roster. If they don’t get immediate impact types, you’re really putting yourself in a bad spot. There is zero chance Jeremy Pruitt isn’t expecting Tee to land immediate difference makers at that position.
That's all I'm saying.I agree. But they have set the standard and shown what it takes to basically make a coach tell you no. No one is leaving a job they are successful and comfortable in anymore unless it’s a ridiculous offer
There’s plenty. I don’t limit “proven” to only winning a national title. If Lincoln Riley is making 4.5...offer him 8. That goes for David Shaw, Gary Patterson, dantonio, whoever.
That’s fair but there’s something to be said for being 8-4 9-3 basically every year as the floor which what i think all of them would have us.Riley may end up in the company of those I listed, but 2 years as an HC is a relatively small sample. Shaw, Patterson, and Dantonio are all very good, but not sure they’re in the same tier to justify Jimbo money. They would have us competing for SEC every 3 or 4 years, but each of them has also proven they’re good for a real clunker of a season every 3 or 4 years as well.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d be tickled with any of those guys you listed. Just not sure they’d justify something like 7 years at $7 million per.

I started to point out earlier that by the time it was Fulmer and Boyd combo, basically all the "proven" were taken/renewed.Overpaying is the new cheap. UT now goes after who we want and throws money around to get them... and keep them. We're doing it in all sports, so the cheap narrative is very 2017.
By the same token, people disagreeing with your opinion should not be surprising. You are chastising them for chastising you.
Easiest schedule we've had in many years. Less than 7 wins will be a problem for Pruitt and recruiting. He needs 7 minimum which is very doable this fall. Win the 4 OOC and 3 conference games.100% agree with this....problem is, I have a tough time seeing 8 wins. Would mean we win every home game except Georgia and our bowl. I just can't lock in wins over BYU, Miss St, SC and Vandy until seeing the product.
BYU is going to be such a huge game IMO. If we drop that one, this season could go south in a bad way. If we can beat them, that opens the door to hopefully being competitive in all home games and potentially pulling out a win or two on the road (Florida/Kentucky/Mizzou)
I'm saying 6 wins at this point for my prediction. Which I can live with. I think we drop 3 home games and beat Kentucky on the road.
